It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Darlene McLaughlin

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Darlene McLaughlin, a long-time dedicated and passionate Little League volunteer. Darlene had fervently served District 8 Alberta, Little League Alberta, Little League Canada and Little League International for decades and her loss is a devastating one.

Darlene began her service with District 8 in 1996 when her son Mark began playing baseball. She served as league Secretary and President of Continental West LL (now part of Rocky Mountain LL) before assuming the role of District Administrator for Little League Alberta District 8 in 2003.

Darlene also served on the boards of Little League Canada, Little League Alberta and the Alberta Amateur Baseball Council. In 2012, she was nominated to be the Canadian Field Director on the Little League International Board of Directors, serving a four year term. In recent years she had served as the Alberta Divisional Director and Travel Coordinator for Little League Canada. She also received the prestigious Marthe Dubroy Award in 2024.

Darlene’s service to Little League was driven by her unwavering commitment to the children in our communities. She was always there to provide support and mentorship to our leagues and district board. Everyone knew if she took on a task the job would get done. Darlene will be sadly missed, she was an incredible person of integrity and caring.

Our prayers are with her husband Gary and her family during this difficult time.

We are incredibly proud to announce that our Major All-Star team has been awarded the prestigious Joe Shea Award for being the most sportsmanlike team! 🏆

While the season may not have unfolded exactly as we hoped, these incredible athletes have shown what true sportsmanship looks like. Every game presented a challenge, but our team faced them all with resilience, respect, and heart. Their dedication, teamwork, and positive spirit have made their journey a wild success.

Thank you, Major All-Stars, for representing our league with such class and integrity. You’ve made us all proud! 🙌

The North Regina Major AAA team has clinched the Provincial Championship! Next Sunday, they will head to Kingston, Ontario, to compete in the Canadian Little League Championships. Let's keep our fingers crossed for a repeat trip to Williamsport for the Little League World Series! ⚾️🌟

The Marthe Dubroy District Volunteer of the Year Award is designed to provide local leagues and Districts the opportunity to honour a deserving individual with this prestigious distinction which recognizes the selfless efforts of the thousands of volunteers at the grass-roots level of Little League Baseball in Canada.

This year our President, Dean McQueen was awarded with the Martha Dubroy Volunteer of the Year Award. Congratulations Dean and thank you for your tireless hours that you spend making each of seasons better than the last.

Hosted our first tournament at Currie Field and welcomed teams from Calgary and Saskatoon. Proud to say our North Regina Renegades dominated, going 5-0 and emerging victorious! 🥇⚾
