1. Set clear and specific goals - Having a clear idea of what you want to achieve can help you focus and stay motivated.

2. Break your goals into small steps - Break your big goal into small, manageable tasks that you can accomplish each day.

3. Create a routine - Establishing a daily routine can help you stay organized and on track.

4. Surround yourself with positivity - Surround yourself with people and things that inspire and motivate you.

5. Reward yourself - Reward yourself for your efforts and accomplishments. It will help you stay motivated to keep going.

Remember, motivation is not always easy to come by, but with a clear plan, a positive mindset and a little bit of discipline, you can achieve your goals and stay motivated.

Look for it. Find it. Search for it.

As parents, we have the unique opportunity to be role models for our children.

They look up to us and learn from our behaviours.

It shocks me sometimes to see Amelia on her own copying certain things without prompting.

But its what shes see’s as the ‘norm’.

Its how she learns.

They watch our daily routines.

Our daily habits.

The way we communicate.

The types of foods we eat and the amount that we consume.

The amount we work and the amount we play.

Our mood and energy.

We are setting the standard.

But the big question is, are you currently living up to the standard you want your children to follow?

Think about it.

Is your current standard of living, health and fitness what you want for them?

You can make the choice.

You can raise your standards.

And they will copy.

In only 3 weeks transformed from the left to the right!

I actually thought it was a joke message at first when Steph messaged and asked me to help get her in shape for her holiday in 3 weeks 🙈😂

BUT I promised to help on one condition!

She sticks to everything 100% for that 3 weeks and then we find a more sustainable approach afterwards for a more long term solution!

Which she did & look at the incredible progress made 👏🏻

“Before going on holiday I felt really anxious about putting on my bikini as I’d put on over a stone in weight and been the heaviest iv ever been and not my normal size 6-8.

Signing up to the plan I made massive changes in 3 weeks, cut my carbs right down and calories low and hit the gym hard, and maintaining 12-15 thousand steps a day.

It was tough for the first week but after that I felt so much fitter and healthier and managed to go on holiday losing around 6 pound and feeling comfortable in my own skin again”

For over 15 years Ive been ‘influencing’ people.

To influence Physical & Mental Health through :

In fact, Ive been influencing people since before Instagram even started.

And although I hate the word and the stigma attached with it,

I’ll keep “influencing” until I die.

Because if I can continue to help people better themselves and give them the tools/advice they need, I’ll die a very happy man.

Tryfan North Ridge - This Saturday (18th May)

One of the most notorious mountains in Snowdonia for people getting lost and stuck as highlighted in the BBC series Extreme Rescues but also one of the most fun, if ascended correctly and safely!

We’ll be ascending as a group maximum of 6 to ensure everyone feels supported, safe and confident at all times!

Date day with a difference! 😍

Epic day with in Llanberris at a hidden gem of a crag! Had the whole place to ourselves all day!

Building confidence in my own knowledge and absorbing as much as possible from Matt.

You don’t know what you don’t know - one of my favourite sayings i’ll keep repeating until the day I die, surrounding yourself with people that have more experience and knowledge than yourself will always rub off on you if you let it.

What was originally supposed to be a horrendous afternoon of thunder and lightening, turned into a unicorn day of clear skies and sun!

“Looking to improve my confidence and technical skills in the mountains, I booked a solo day in Snowdonia with Chris.

Wanting to spend more time in the hills for my photography, I needed to build some confidence to take on some scrambles alone (or without a guide).

Our day consisted of a scramble up Tryfan’s North Ridge, a challenge I had wanted to tackle for a while.

From the start of the ascent, Chris gave some great advice about the best kit and provided some useful pointers about the physical aspects of scrambling during the process.

Heading towards the summit, my nerves got the better of me, but with Chris’ calm and measured approach, we reviewed options, tweaked the route and made it to the summit.

I would definitely recommend Chris as a mountain guide. His professional, calm approach along with his knowledge and people skills were just what is needed to remain safe and to enjoy the outdoor experience.”

If you’re relatively new to hiking…

Heres 6 questions you should be asking yourself to stay safe in the mountains.

1. Are vou dressed appropriately?

You should wear comfortable and sturdy walking shoes/boots. It will get colder as you climb higher so you will need multiple lavers of clothing, a hat and gloves, and waterproof coat and trousers.

2. Do you have the appropriate equipment?

You should carry a map and compass, a torch, food and drink, a whistle, a first aid kit and a mobile phone. Specialised equipment is needed in winter
conditions, and a sun hat and sunscreen on warm,
sunny days.

3. Have you planned your route?

Seek advice and information locally, and plan your route before hand. Remember that the summit is only half-way so be sure to allow enough time to come back down before it gets dark.

4. Is your chosen route within your ability?

Be aware of the fitness and ability levels of every body in your group, not just your own. Remember also
that coming down can be harder than going up. Not everyone has the same head for heights, so discuss the route before to ensure everyones comfortable.

5. Have you checked the weather forecast?

Check the Met office mountain weather forecast for your area before setting off and in the days running up.
Be prepared to turn back if the weather worsens, the mountain will be there another day, but you might not if you continue.

6. Have you told anyone?

You should tell somebodv about your plans before setting off for the mountains so that they can raise the
alarm if you don’t return in a specific time, remember to let that person know when you are back safely. This is incredibly important if you’re going solo.

‘Why are we even doing this’ was the question I got asked by a slightly worried gripping onto the rock face of Tryfan at the weekend.

Because you can. Thats the answer.

As humans, we are dragged in two different directions.

1. Our subconscious mind wants to remain safe, secure and comfortable without any external risks or pressures.

2. Our conscious thoughts want to strive for more. Feeling unfulfilled when remaining in our comfort zones for to long.

We want to see where our limits are. We want to see how we react in risky situations or from environmental pressures.

All to often I speak to people who feel unfulfilled.

They have regrets of never really challenging themselves enough to get any kind of self achievement.

Often, this is in all aspects of their lives.

Nothing really ‘spikes’ them to feel alive or fill them with power.

When was the last time you truly left your comfort zone?

When was the last time you had to conquer fear in order to achieve a greater satisfaction from hitting a goal?

When was the last time you said NO, when your body and mind wanted to give up?

Strength comes from struggle. Hardships create hardened characters.

We expose ourselves to resistance to train how to deal with things when we are no longer in control.

We adapt & we overcome.

“I just can’t wait to have that ‘nothing can touch me’ resilient mindset”

A quote one of my clients recently said to me.

And I hated to be the one to burst the bubble, but your mindset isn’t something you acquire, like one day its unlocked and its cemented for the rest of your life.

Its a constant conscious effort.

The small decisions daily that help you, or hinder you long term.

Its a choice & awareness that you have to continue making.

Do you do the extra rep you don’t want to do?

Do you keep running when you want to stop?

Do you choose the more nutritious option over the comfort food?

Its a never ending process that you have to continuously be aware of

BUT like any muscle, the more you work it, the stronger it gets.

Theres ALOT of mistrust in the fitness industry

Let me explain why.

‘Karen’ is a receptionist for a corporate office.

She joins a gym. She loses weight. She feels empowered. She does a quick qualification online and now shes a ‘fitness professional’. Leaves her job and starts charging the ‘going rate’ for personal training.

Yes, she may have lost weight. But does she know how to help other people lose weight? Does she have the knowledge to navigate the issues they may come across? Can she work around injuries or rehabilitate them?

Personally, Iv brushed my teeth everyday and haven’t had any issues with teeth in my adult life.

Does this mean I can start dentistry from my living room? Taking on clients?

“Don’t be fu***ng stupid” I hear you say. (Apologies for swearing Mum, I know you read these now, but swearing gives emphasis and makes the post cool, apparently 😎)

You would need to get properly educated in all areas of oral health, attend an apprenticeship and work under another professional until you had the relevant experience to help others.

The fitness industry has non of the above. But can be equally as damaging. Mentally and physically.

Life can either be won or lost.

Although not in competition with anyone else, but a win would be living a life you can look back on and know you lived it exactly how you wanted.

Because theres a concept our society is often forgetting,

You are totally responsible for you.

It’s your life.

Your choices.

Your ideal outcome.

Zero excuses.

You don’t get to play the victim in the choices that you’ve made.

If you don’t like where you are right now,

If you don’t like where you’re heading,

If you don’t like the place that your current choices have landed you,

Then change it.

You have the ability to do that.

In fact, you’re the only person who can.

This is your life,

And there is no room for excuses.

Start taking responsibility for yourself,

Where you’re at,

And where you’re going,

Once and for all.

Because when you look back on your time on this planet,

You’ll realise blaming others, blaming your situation and making excuses, didn’t give you the life you really wanted to live.

I’ve been talking to some new clients this week about the importance of rest, and not feeling guilty for implementing rest days and lower intensity days.

Being totally honest, I’ve been riding ‘the line’ for the past month myself with everything going on but having planned in rest days allows for a greater level of performance long term.

Theres a quote I love to use and if you’ve followed me long enough, you’ll see I use it alot.

Chopping a tree with a blunt axe is a waste of time, energy and will never get you closer to bringing the tree down.

Spending a small amount of time away from the tree, to sharpen the axe, will result in a much better outcome.

The next time you’re feeling guilty for spending some time to rest and recover after watching a toxic social media feed of ‘grind culture’, remember that quote.

If your ticking the boxes and doing the work required to progress, you need to equally focus on recovering for long term development.

Whether thats in your career, family, training or anything else.

Taking the time to sharpen the axe doesn’t make you weak, it gives you the super power to continue to carry on at the highest standards.

You don’t have to think too hard about driving your car anymore, do you?

You don’t think about the order of checking mirrors, clutch down, move into gear etc.

You just get in the car and go.

You have the freedom to go wherever you like.

Sometimes you even arrive at a destination not even remembering how you got there, because it’s so deeply engrained that it’s become second nature to you now.

But when you first started taking lessons, it was a headache.

Changing your lifestyle is the same.

You have to make different choices to cultivate new behaviours.

You have to learn how to play the game.

But after a while, all of those things soon become subconscious habits that run in the background,

Just like how driving has become a subconscious habit that you do without much thought.

It might be a headache at first,

But the rewards are massive.

Take control.

Make the decisions to be the best version of you.

Last year I spent the day with the legendary to soak up any of his knowledge that I could.

Rusty has a massive wealth of experience including summiting Everest.

I’m a huge believer in saying “you don’t know what you don’t know”? It’s a common phrase that essentially means we can’t know everything and there’s always room to learn more.

Even when you think you might know everything, how do you know, if you don’t know? 🤷🏻‍♂️

It took me a while to understand this, but the older I get, the more open to it I become!

Hence reaching out to professionals such as Rusty.

Structure - to ensure your training, nutrition & recovery is specific to your goals! Without throwing s**t at the wall and hoping something sticks. We ensure finding the right balance between increasing stimulation and intensity, without causing injuries to progress continuously & consistently.

Accountability - most people struggle to be accountable to themselves. Not sticking to their own word, thus not doing the work required to get the results they desire. I’m in contact with my clients as little or as often as they like. Once we plan out your goal, I’ll make sure you get there.

Support - we all need someone to sound off to and get a second opinion when needed. Someone to cheer when we win. Someone to be empathetic and provide a plan B if plan A needs to change!

With these 3 pillars of the program, you can’t fail.

Do you intentionally put yourselves in uncomfortable situations & environments?

Most people don’t.

But do you know how you react in the face of adversity?

Most people do & wish they could deal with it better.

Resilience is often talked about but without information on how to truly build it.

“Psychologists define resilience as the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or significant sources of stress—such as family and relationship problems, serious health problems, or workplace and financial stressors. ... That’s the role of resilience.”

But theres a way you can train for mental toughness & you don’t need to jump in at the deep end.

It can be as simple as doing that one extra rep you didn’t think you could do.

Running for that extra minute when you wanted to stop.

Turning the shower cold for 30 seconds and controlling your thoughts to stay in there without jumping out.

Repetitions of this thought process build mindset strength. In the same way repetitions of lifting weights would build physical strength.

Small increments of discipline to position yourself outside of your comfort zone.

These daily small tasks collectively build up & your mentality becomes aware you are capable of more than you allow yourself to think.

Unfortunately life doesn’t go the way we plan & hardships are a given...but you can prepare for them in advance.

I posted about .johnston a few weeks back with a little bit of background of the results shes had since us working together.

What I didn’t mention, was the insane transformation in her physique.

I don’t post alot of these type of pictures, as I really love to focus on what the body can do, rather than how it looks.

BUT when you focus on performance, fuel yourself right and live a healthy lifestyle, you’re body will adapt to what you’re doing and give you the results you want!

Theres no secret formula or secret diet.

Tricia puts the effort in, week in week out, rarely misses a session, is in constant communication with me if theres issues or struggles and we find the best path to take in order for her to keep progressing!

And as you can see, the results speak for themselves!

Who am I?

Its a question I ask myself everyday, but without getting to deep, I’ll try and sum myself up in a single post!

I’ve had quite a number of new followers recently (thank you), so thought it was only right to re-introduce myself with abit of background.

I’ve got a passion for life. I’ve seen first hand how easily it can disappear and remind myself everyday how lucky I am to be alive and to exist in the world. Its incredible, because one day, I won’t!

Foremost, I’m a partner to and father to two amazing daughters, Amelia and Holly. Dad is my most important title and will always be my priority.

Secondly, Im a Coach and genuinely think helping people by passing on my knowledge and experience is the best thing in the world.

Over the years, Ive thrown myself head first into a-lot of different worlds, scenarios and experiences, because I believe thats what life is all about! (Enjoy the old photos and baby face 😂)

Trying new things and ‘having a go’ to see what you like.

Its given me life changing perspectives, created alot of opportunities and Ive met some incredible people along the way.

It breaks my heart to hear about people with little or no confidence to chase their dreams because they don’t feel fit or strong enough!

Which is my whole methodology around Coaching.

I want EVERYONE to feel confident enough to be ‘ready for anything’. Whatever opportunities come their way, I want them to say YES!

Especially with the outdoors.

I qualified as a Mountain Leader last year to ensure not only can I help people get fit enough to enjoy the outdoors, but I can help pass on the skills for them to also do it safely.

The outdoors and getting in the mountains is the greatest reset button you can ever.

Time, stress and problems all seem to fade away when your out in nature, enjoying the views or scrambling up the rocks!

My personal goal and mission is to continue to help as many people as possible, be the best Dad and partner I can be, and ultimately, to keep saying YES to new opportunities!

I’m very fortunately to spend alot of time with professional athletes & some of the most knowledgable coaches in the industry.

We discuss training, nutrition, sleep, and our different approaches with clients.

But the ONE thing we all 100% agree on, is mastering the basics is key.

Its not sexy, its not fancy and theres no secret formula.

Too often, people try to complicate things by jumping into advanced exercises and routines, but it’s important to remember that the basics are the foundation of a strong, healthy body.

Perfecting form, building a solid foundation of strength and stability along with developing good movement patterns.

In turn this means we can improve our overall strength/fitness and reduce the risk of injury long term.

Less injuries = more consistency in training

More consistency = Better results

Be patient and give yourself time to progress.
