We had a great end to our first year with a tournament in Tennessee. Two tournament cancellations had us worried it wasn’t going to work out, but we think it ended up pretty fabulous after all. We faced some talented teams and our girls showed their growth and left it all on the field. We are proud of their hard work this year and love the great bonds they share. We enjoyed some off-field fun and finished it with good times at Dollywood. We are incredibly blessed for these girls, our coaches, and the amazing families that round out our Norcross Diamond Devils.

Two weeks ago everything clicked and we cruised through the day. It was amazing. This weekend was nearly the opposite at times but was one of the greatest weekends ever. A decisive first game win was followed by defensive struggles in every game. We found ourselves in the 6th and last inning of the semi-final, down by 4 (1-5). A leadoff double lit the fire and lead to a score, but then we ended up still down by 3 with 2 outs.
A triple sent another batter to the plate but she was soon facing the 1-2 pitch, 1 strike away from going home. But she singled and the next 3 batters followed with consecutive hits with the last walking it off. These five girls came to the plate that inning with 2 outs, each with the pressure of finding a way on base or the game was over. They all managed to dig deep and keep it going. It was so incredible.
In the championship game again we found ourselves down 0 to 2, but battled back, finding a run each in the 4th, 5th, and then walking it off again in the 6th inning to take 1st place.
The “perfect” days are great and we welcome them. But the imperfect days - watching the fight, determination, resiliency, particularly the ability to push past the mistakes and make things happen when it’s needed most, is the most rewarding. There is no blaming and no shaming for mistakes – they believe in each other, support each other, and epitomize a team.
Our hearts are full.
