Congratulations to the winners of Wayzata Chess Actions held on August 14th and 15th at Plymouth Crowne Plaza! In the K-12 section three players tied for first with 4 out 5 points. Ben Vanorny won the section on tiebreaks, followed by David Schabert and Ethan Li. Wayzata High School won the top team award.
In the K-8 section Harrison Stage won clear first with 4.5 points, followed by Joshua Rajadurai winning clear second with 4 points. 3rd grader Katie Lu played up and won 3rd place with 3.5 points! Nicollet Middle School took the top team honor.
In the merged K-5 and K-3 section Minnesota’s Rockefeller representative Ahmed Ilyasov scored 5 out of 6 points and took clear first. Aarti Kannan came in clear second with 4.5 points. Tony Cheng and Katie Lu tied for third with 4 points. Special recognition of 3rd grader Katie Lu for playing up and winning 3rd place in two sections!
