Perspective. A word I heard used alot over the last 10 days. A word that in the moment, I want to tell you to shove it straight up your.... you get it. As a competitive person, you don't look at Perspective. You look at what was left on the table. Knowing in your head, it is not an apples to apples comparison. But listening to your heart going my orange is just as good as their apples.
99 out of 100 times, David doesn’t win, Goliath does. I knew it in my head we were a long shot, but my competitive heart said we could win the whole damn thing, if we had a thing or 30 fall in our favor.
We did it. Crossed it off the list. We went as a family and team against the best in all of the sprint car world. From our opening laps to our last laps, I beg someone to show more improvement. Everytime we rolled on the track, the car and driver looked better, improving even if just slightly. Improvement.
We took our kids and family through the hall of fame, found our name.
We took some of the adults to The Dingus. Daring us to ask the question, but did you survive?
We took over the hotel pool to watch the Friday night program from the water.
We ate at the Rib Shack. Saw Oskaloosa. Ate at one of 17 Mexican restaurants. We ate the Casey's pizza. Saw the beginning of the best week of sprint car racing. Experienced the fans of Knoxville. PA fans are a breed of their own, but Iowa fans may be just as passionate about sprint cars. A whole region embraces and drives sprint car racing out there.
We did it, as a team, as friends, as a family. Both from Iowa and at home. Everyone's support is incredible. And honestly, a bit of pressure to try to deliver.
I am so appreciative for everyone. Jess, my parents, the kids, Kurt and Ryan. They gave up alot for my to follow some dreams to the middle of corn fields.
The businesses that continue to stand behind us, they're amazing.
We didn't come home with the giant trophy and the big check. We came home with memories of a lifetime. Oh, and a pretty nice little trophy. Ill go down in the record books as the E-main winner of the 2026 360 Knoxville nationals. And I am ok with that.
