Today we remember Andrew Matthew, who passed away on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
Andrew was one of those rare people whose quiet strength spoke louder than words. Gentle in nature but steadfast in spirit, he approached life — and the sport he loved — with calm determination and generosity. Among his diving friends, Andrew was known as someone who always gave his best, someone you could rely on without hesitation. Whether sympathising over a crash, offering advice, or simply being there when it mattered, he never hesitated to go out of his way to help others.
But alongside that kindness was Andrew’s wonderfully snarky sense of humour. Just when things were getting serious, he would deliver a perfectly timed remark that left everyone laughing and brought lightness back to the moment. Many of us will forever remember the sound of those shared laughs after one of Andrew’s comments had the whole group in stitches.
Andrew’s presence made our community stronger, warmer, and more connected.
Though he is deeply missed, we carry forward the lessons he showed us: to give our best, to help one another, and never to miss the chance to laugh together.
Rest peacefully, Andrew. You will always be part of our diving family.
