Mindfulness For Seniors – Top Mindfulness Tips For The Elderly | Veritas Care Mindfulness practice for health has positive results on both body and spirit. Therefore, today we present top tips on meditation for the elderly and mindfulness practice for senior health.

"Seniors who regularly engage in mindfulness have reported improvements in their emotional well-being, better stress management, reduced feelings of loneliness, and enhanced cognitive function. Some may experience greater resilience and a more positive outlook on life. I noticed personally that mindfulness-based practices for older adults can even help with physical challenges such as sleep problems and pain management."
quote from an expert interview during our desk research

is for everyone!

We know: is for everyone. But this is what one of our experts had to say about this during our research phase, when we asked them about why certain groups, e.g. elderly people, shy away from trying out mindfulness practices:
"A common prejudices is that people think they are “too fat”, "too old" or “immobile” to follow certain practices, because on Social Media we often only see skinny white people doing Yoga, for example. Here we can only try to invite people to experience it for themselves and also we should feature more diversity during dissemination and (online) courses."

This is exactly what we want to do with the Sun in the Age Project: We want to show especially older people, that mindfulness is for them as well as everybody else.
Stay tuned for our Handbook, that will also feature a collection of good practices regarding mindfulness.

The next quote from our case studie we want to share with you is:
"When you get older, you have to 'deal' with yourself, new needs and limits that might occur, a lot. The same goes for starting with mindfulness practices because it can lead to new insights about yourself: It might seem like a lot of work in the beginning and you might confront some things within you. This changes you, but also your environment, for the better. It also helps us to cope better with change. Life consists of constant change. That’s why it is a great preparation for getting older."
Diane Nagel, Corporate Health Manager, Stress & Burnout Coach and Mindfulness Coach

Mindfulness is for everyone!
You will be able to read more in out Handbook, that will be online soon.

This month, we would like to feature some excerpts of the interviews we held for our handbook.

"One success story I share is that of a person with Parkinson's who since she has been attending mindfulness in movement workshops has told me herself that she is much better and takes less medication. I can corroborate that since she started the workshops her coordination and body stability has improved. And the most important thing is that she is satisfied, she does the exercises with interest and trust, and that same attitude helps her to overcome the illness she is going through, even reversing it or at least slowing down the process of degeneration. She has really improved a lot."
Irene Serrat, Master in relaxation, meditation and mindfulness (REMIND master) and yoga and meditation instructor. Her Masters' Thesis had a big influence on our project idea.

The Handbook will be online soon, stay tunded!
