It’s so simple, and yet we struggle with it. Unity. We know what it is, we talk about it, and surely most of us feel the desire for it. But what is unity and where does it start?
Unity is the profound understanding, that all and everything is one, that there is no separation. And it starts with yourself - your individual Self. You might think, how can everything be one, if i’m an individual Self? It’s good that you ask this question. 🤍
Think of a painting. It has multiple colors, objects, forms and even layers. But everything is painted on one canvas. Only with the canvas, the painting can exist - the canvas is always and ever present. And immediately with this understanding, one color is never just one color anymore, it emerges with all other colors and forms and creates the painting. Always „held“ by the canvas.
Unity.
Yoga, Ayurveda and a holistic therapy looks at you as one, as an unity. Therefore we can’t separate the body from the mind and from the „soul“. With every therapy and treatment at seva.holistic, we take care of it and include the colors around you, knowing that in fact you are the canvas and everything/everyone is the canvas too. Just in this human experience you are the color.

Yoga in its all aspects is the most effective way to Self-realization. On the way to this «life-goal», the Yogi is advised to study and live the 8 limbed Path. Maybe you think now «this sounds like a religion to me… nah, nothing for me». But wait, give me a minute of your precious time before you swipe to the next post. The 8 limbed Path is not a religion but merely guidelines, that if practiced correctly with consistency and devotion, the Yogi will receive radiant health, as well mental and psychic powers in a «short» time. Uh nice huh, there you go, I knew I got your attention now. Because, who doesn’t want all this in life, right? I am happy to serve and helping you through this, because we all are on this Path together. Read below what the 8 limbed Path is and where to start.
The 8 limbed Path is divided in the following steps:
1. Yama: The Ethical Rules
2. Niyama: The Observances
3. Asana: The Postures/Physical Practice
4. Pranayama: Breathing techniques
5. Pratyahara: Control of the Senses
6. Dharana: Concentration
7. Dhyana: Meditative absorption
8. Samadhi: Enlightenment
So, to start the journey to Self-Realization we should begin with the very foundation:
The Yama. The five Ethical Rules are:
- Ahimsa (nonviolence): It’s non-violence in all aspects of life. This means not physically harming others, ourselves, animals or nature; not thinking negative thoughts about others or ourselves; and making sure that what and how we do it is done in harmony.
- Satya (truthfulness): One should always tell the truth in thought, word and deed. The truth must be pleasant to others; an unpleasant truth should not be uttered (considering ahimsa).
- Asteya (noncovetousness): Means not stealing the property, ideas or time of others gaining selfish ends. Being envious of or begrudging another is to be avoided.
- Brahmacharya (celibacy/right use of energy): Regarding Brahmacharya as ‘right use of energy’ nowadays it leads us to consider how we actually use, invest and direct our energy. It also evokes a sense of directing our energy away from external desires.
- Aparigraha (nonaccumulation): often translated as ‘non-greed’ or ... ((continued in comments)) ⬇️
Do you sometimes catch yourself with the thought «is this it? Is there more than this? what can I do to be happy, to be fulfilled?» I truly feel you and all your thoughts around this. I was there too and it took me quite a while to figure out what to do and where to go to be happy. There are many ways to find fulfillment, some find it in their job, family or sports. So, whatever it is for you, do it only for you. Not for your partner, mother or father, best friend or to impress others. Don’t do it for competitive reasons, do it only for you, because it makes you happy. But if you are still looking for «this thing», this great purpose or extraordinary project that will change and make you happy, you might invest some time to a journey to your inner and truest self. There you will find the answers, layer by layer you will discover more about you and this great purpose of self-realization. And in there you will find this light, shining and guiding you through to contentment. And then you know, yes there’s more than this because it’s everything. Then it won’t feel like work or a struggle to achieve something. Then you don’t compare yourself and your goals with others. Then it’s a path you‘ve chosen to walk with a heart full of love and joy and being free. Then it’s not about you and your «self» anymore, it’s about your «atman», your true self. ——Follow OmYogaNow for inspiration on how to live the life of Yoga and helping you to awaken and living your best life.
