Buffalos Football Spring Meeting May 2/23
Spring Camp Details
1) Equipment Handout/Registration will be on May 18th from 4pm to 5pm.
2) Registration fee will be $20. This is to help cover the cost of our bus to Medicine Hat
3) Practices will start at 4:30pm on May 23rd at the Junior High Field. Players will be
expected to get changed at the high school and walk over to the Jr. High.
4) The team will be heading to Medicine Hat for a jamboree with McCoy and Crescent
Heights on June 3rd. Details on times and location will be given at a later date.
Team Changes
The following rules were put in place by Football Canada/Alberta. The rules will have an effect
on our Fall 2022 season. These new rules were designed to help with player longevity, and to
decrease injuries.
1) All teams that play 12-man are required to have a minimum of 28 players on a roster.
2) On gameday, all teams must have at least 24 players suited up and able to play on the
sideline. If a team does not have the minimum number of players, the referees are able
to have the team with insufficient players forfeit, and no game shall be played.
3) Players are only allowed to have a maximum of 17 weeks of full contact football per year.
With these new rules, it is with the utmost importance that all players attend practice on a
consistent basis. Only players who come to practice and are able to play within our systems will
see the field. Individual players who do not come to practice and do not know what they are
doing will not see the field, as they pose a safety risk to themselves and others.
Any player who is planning on playing for a club team or attending a summer camp must inform
Coach Hartley. This is to ensure that players are abiding by the 17 weeks of football.
Rule Changes
These are the following on field rule changes.
1) Unnecessary Roughness.
a) Any player who is penalized for unnecessary roughness three times in the same
game will be ejected.
2) Objectionable Conduct.
a) Any player, coach, sideline member, or fan who is penalized for
objectionable conduct two times in the same game will be ejected.
b) Any individual who is assessed an objectionable conduct penalty based on verbal
discrimination will also be ejected.
3) Roughing the Kicker.
a) Any contact with the kicker that is deemed excessive force, regardless if the ball
has been touched or not, will be penalized with roughing the kicker.
