We talk a lot about “deep core” training, but it isn’t about getting a six-pack.
Your deep core muscles help stabilise your spine, pelvis and rib cage during everyday activities. They work in the background every time you lift, carry, twist, reach or balance.
That’s why we train them using real-world movement patterns:
1️⃣Bear pull throughs– train anti-rotation strength and shoulder stability. Think reaching under furniture or controlling awkward loads without twisting through your spine.
2️⃣Round the worlds– develop dynamic bracing, coordination and core control. Similar to manoeuvring a lawnmower or carrying bulky objects around corners.
3️⃣Suitcase carries– challenge lateral core stability and posture. Just like carrying shopping bags, luggage or a child on one side.
4️⃣Offset overhead marches– build balance, shoulder stability and spinal control while moving under load.
5️⃣Half windmills– improve hip stability, thoracic mobility and rotational control, helping you bend and reach more efficiently.
Deep core training isn’t about making your abs burn. It’s about improving spinal support, movement efficiency and your body’s ability to cope with the demands of everyday life. These exercises can be done using weights or improvise with items around the house (a heavy shopping bag would do!)
Train for life, not just for the gym 💪
NB: Exercises may require modification based on your needs so please speak to us at your next appointment prior to starting any training.

What an amazing result for this lovely lady 😍
Dulcie and I have actually known each other since we were children, so it’s really special to now both be working in our own fields while so often co-managing our patient's care together. With some brilliant results... 💙💚
Healthcare works best when it’s a team effort. We're proud to work alongside some fantastic local practitioners who share the same patient-centred approach.

Sometimes the most important thing we can do for you… is not treat you.
A few years ago, a 12-year-old girl came into clinic with back pain and postural changes that immediately raised concern for scoliosis. Whilst mild scoliosis can often respond to conservative care, clinical spidey sense said this needed more. So, rather than beginning hands-on treatment, she was referred urgently for further investigation. 🩻
More often than not, we never hear what happens afterwards, so I was genuinely moved to recently receive this message from her mum:
“Thanks to you and your diagnosis of scoliosis, she had spinal surgery in January. She is now 4 inches taller and straight, with no hunch, no pain.....absolutely brilliant!!!”
Reading that message stopped me in my tracks.
Not because of anything we did in clinic, but because it was a reminder of how important early recognition can be, especially in children whose bodies are changing so quickly.👧
Even after the initial referral, getting answers wasn’t straightforward. There were delays, uncertainty, and moments where the family really had to keep pushing to be heard.
One of the most important parts of our role is helping you navigate those moments, supporting you, advocating for further investigation when needed, and making sure concerns don’t get lost along the way.
Paediatric scoliosis can progress extremely quickly, especially during growth spurts. In some children, curves can worsen significantly within months.
Early signs are often subtle:
• Uneven shoulders
• Rib hump or prominence
• Waist asymmetry
• Leaning to one side
• Clothes hanging unevenly
• Back pain or fatigue
And sometimes… a child simply “looks different” but can’t explain why.
This young lady has now undergone life-changing spinal surgery. She’s taller. Straighter. Out of pain.
I’m incredibly grateful her family trusted their instincts, kept pushing for answers, and allowed us to be part of that journey. A prime example that sometimes the best treatment decision… is knowing when not to treat.

Scared of getting your back cracked? 👀 Here are 3 things you should know before your first chiropractic adjustment👇
1️⃣ The “crack” sound is simply gas releasing from the joint. It is NOT bones cracking or grinding together- and some adjustments don’t even make a sound at all. 🤫
2️⃣ Chiropractic care is never one-size-fits-all. Before any treatment, we assess your body, symptoms, medical history, and comfort levels and discuss this with you to work out what’s safest and most appropriate for YOU 💚
3️⃣ We don’t JUST “crack backs.” Remember, chiropractic is a PROFESSION, not a treatment. This means chiropractors provide a wide range of different treatment approaches to help you recovery. If you’re nervous, uncomfortable, or an adjustment isn’t suitable, we can use other techniques instead, including soft tissue therapy, mobilisation, rehab exercises, dry needling, stretching, kinesiology taping, activator and low-force techniques 🙌
Feeling anxious before your first visit is completely normal , and you’re always in control during treatment. We’ll talk you through everything and get the go-ahead from you before we do anything 🤝 It’s your body. We’re just here to help it perform at its best!
Save this for later & send it to someone who’s been anxious about booking in 👇
