Ok. That took a lot longer than I expected. We will do equipment turn in on Tuesday, October 24th from 5-6pm at the front door of CLW. We'll have pizza for the kids too, so feel free to stop by and hang out for a bit.
Hampton Dumont YSF: 5th-6th Grade Football
Hampton Dumont Youth Sports Foundations 5th and 6th Grade Football
Information for Sunday. The field will be open at 12:30pm. Concessions will be available. We would like everyone there, strapped up and ready to go by 12:45pm. We'll play at 1:30pm. Field location is 605 W Lyons St, Garner, IA 50438. Map is included. Please plan accordingly. Drive time is about an hour to the site. See you all there. Thanks!!!
No practice tonight. We will be at the CLW parking lot from about 5-5:15pm for ticket and money dropoff. We'll post regarding Sunday once we get all the info from the host team.
As we told the players on Tuesday, we are planning to practice today from 4:30-5:30, but with the weather, we will most likely cancel. If that is the case then someone will be at the CLW parking lot at 5pm to collect the remaining raffle tickets and money.
Final week for football. The plan will be to practice Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 5:30-7pm. Tonight is helmets and practice jerseys. This Thursday may be a bit different - with senior night football activities and Sideliners, we may need to shift practice time or possibly even go a different day since almost all the coaches will be gone for those activities. We will get it figured out and posted as soon as we can. Raffle tickets and money will also be due Thursday at practice. Thank you everyone!
Information for tomorrow - We will play at 1pm. We ask everyone to be there dressed and ready to warm up by 12:15pm (12:30 at the latest). We will be on the high school field located here: 312 Gretten St, Gilbert, IA 50105. The field is a FieldTurf surface. Looks like it will be a beautiful day for football!
Wanting to get some feedback. Gilbert wants to move our game up on Sunday to noon instead of 1:30. This would mean leaving the Hampton area by about 10am to get there in time for warmup. Are there any major issues with this? Thanks
For tomorrow (Sunday), please be at the high school field by 1:30pm. We will cheer on the 3/4 team for a quarter before heading over to warm up for our game.
A repost of what was sent out over mass text - we apologize for the late notice but a few things got moved around on us so we're rolling with it. YSF recognition night will be at the varsity game this Friday against Webster City. The teams will be announced pregame so please, players wear your jersey and meet at the south gates next to the track at 6:30pm. We will walk onto the field at about 6:45pm. Admission for players is free. Thank you.
All - we will continue our usual practice days with Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday but starting this week we will end at 7pm instead of 7:30pm since we are losing our light earlier. Thank you.
Game day tomorrow! We play at the high school at 2:30. The 3/4 team plays at 1:30. We would like the players there, dressed and ready by 1:30 so we can cheer on the 3/4 team for a bit before we start warming up.
Game day everyone! Please be at the high school field by 12:30pm ready to warm up. Bathrooms will be open at the field but no concessions since there is just the one game. Thank you!
A couple reminders for the parade today - the kids will be dismissed to us for the parade from the middle school at about 1-1:15pm. We will pick them up at the south parking lot and head over to the staging area at First Bank (please note the parade route is opposite what it has been in the past). We will then go through the parade and finish at the high school. The kids will be released back to their teachers when we get to the high school for the pep rally at the football field. If you wish to take your player home at that point, then you need to talk to the school and clear it with them. The school is releasing the kids to us and we are releasing back to the school. We will not let any kids leave with parents directly after the parade unless the school knows about it and has communicated that to us. Thank you.
To repeat what the kids were told tonight after practice - if your player wishes to ride the homecoming float for the parade Friday afternoon, then the permission slip needs to be filled out and returned to the middle school office by Thursday. Only kids who have the form returned will be allowed to ride. CAL kids can bring the form to practice. We are working on a way to get them to the parade so they can participate as well.
Pictures - we understand how short of notice this is and we apologize. This was the best that fit in everyone's schedule so that we weren't doing this the last week of the season. We will start pictures at 5pm at the field. For those who have soccer on Tuesday nights, hopefully this still works for you to come get pictures done before heading to your practice. Everyone will need game jerseys for pictures along with everything else needed for a full pads practice. Thank you for your patience.
The kids played well this weekend, especially for their first game. We have a few things we need to fix in practice this week, but overall we just need to continue to work hard. Practices this week will be the following: tonight 5:30-7:30pm helmets/practice jerseys only. Tuesday 5:30-7:30pm full pads. Thursday 5:30-7pm full pads. We will cut Thursday practice short so that everyone can still make the community tailgate which runs until 8. We will post more info regarding the Friday homecoming parade and pictures here soon.
Information for tomorrow: Location for the field is the following - Boone High School Football Field -- Goeppinger Field -- 504 Division Street, Boone, IA, 50036 (attached image). Please be at the field by 1:30pm. Allow about 1 hour 20 minutes travel time. Bathrooms and concessions will be available. Parking is available on side streets and in the grass on the east side of the field. We will warm up in the grass to the east of the football field. Looks like it is going to be a beautiful day - I am definitely looking forward to it.
No practice today. This week, the plan is to practice Tuesday and Thursday 5:30-7:30pm. Please keep an eye on this feed. With the weather, we may need to change if any direction comes from YSF regarding the heat. If tomorrow is cancelled, we may need to add a practice so that we are prepared. Our first game is Sunday and will be an actual game instead of the controlled scrimmage format we saw at the jamboree... a lot more to prepare for. Thank you for your patience.
Games have been posted on the YSF site. We are included in the Mid Iowa/Cyclone conference link.
Sept 10 @ Boone - 2:30pm
Sept 17 Belmond-Klemme - 1:30pm
Sept 24 Nevada - 2:30pm
Oct 1 Iowa Falls - 2:30pm
Oct 8 @ Gilbert - 1:30pm
Oct 15 @ Garner - 1:30pm
Looks like we have a decent week for weather. We will practice Monday thru Thursday 5:30-7:30pm. Monday will be helmets only. The rest of the week will be full pads.
Everyone! We missed the reschedule of the second game. We play at 3 instead of 3:45. Please try to be back by 2:15 if possible.
Jamboree Info:
A few teams dropped out of the jamboree which means the schedule needed to be reworked. We now play at noon and 3:45pm which makes our day a bit longer. We need our players at the field by 11am at the latest (10:30am would be preferred). Many of the players will need to be reweighed for an official weight. We will provide that list as soon as we have it. We would like the players to have that completed and ready to warm up in the designated warm-up area by 11am with full pads on. Additional info and a map of the facility is provided in the attached pictures. Please allow at least an hour and 15 minutes for travel. A section of highway 65 is closed south of Hubbard due to construction so allow for that as well. We will need the full hour to warm up so that we can run through a few drills to get the players used to their pads before we start the scrimmage. This is going to be an interesting day. We will do our best to ensure the kids play safe but also have fun. (NOTE: players need full pads with them - helmets, mouthguards, shoulder pads, pants, and game jerseys)
We will not practice Friday. YSF has stated they will allow practice on Friday but without pads. This was pretty much the entire reason we were going to practice. Best thing now would be to just let the kids rest so they are ready to give it their all on Saturday. More info on that here in a bit...
Mandate from YSF. No practice today due to heat. Please keep an eye on this feed - we are looking into having a practice Friday (45-60 minutes) so the kids have a chance to practice once in pads before Saturday. The forecast is showing the heat breaking early Friday morning. We understand this is short notice and there are some who already have plans or wish to get to the early game, so this will be an optional practice. Please also stay tuned since I will be posting a bunch of info regarding season games, scrimmage this Saturday, pictures, and practice for the next few weeks. Thank you all!
Jamboree scrimmage information so far. We will be playing twice this Saturday, August 26 at West Marshall which is in State Center, Iowa. Scrimmage times will be approximately 1:30pm and 3:45pm. We will post the field location as soon as we know. Each family is responsible for getting their athlete to the field on time.
We understand that along with start of school this week, everyone's concern is the heat. We have YSF mandated safety regulations we must follow regarding heat and humidity. We also have to think about the fact that we have committed to playing in the jamboree scrimmage this coming weekend and want our players to be ready. With all of this in mind, we will make the following changes this week for practice - first, we plan to practice from 6:30pm-8:15pm Monday thru Thursday. We understand this may throw off plans for everyone. We just ask that everyone do their best to make practices and please communicate with coaches if something does not work. We believe that pushing practice off an hour is the best chance we have to give the players at least 30 minutes each practice in full pads so that they are ready for Saturday. So then, for this week (Aug 21- 24), players will need to be in t-shirts and shorts for practice but also bring full pads and helmets for the time we will be able to suit up and hit. Speaking from experience, if your athlete has compression shorts to wear under regular sport shorts, it would be advised to wear those as well in order to speed the change to pads when the time comes. Thank you for your patience and support.
Tonight's practice will be with helmets and mouthguards. If there are issues with your helmet, please come early so that we can do our best to get everything fixed. Thank you.
Reminder that today starts YSF practice. Players need to be on the field and ready to start at 5:30pm. Please use the upper parking lot when dropping off your player. With the amount of rain we have had, we want to keep traffic to a minimum on the lower field.
Month of August (practices will be at CLW field):
August 15 - first practice 5:30-7:30pm
Week 1: 8/15 - 17 (all 5:30-7:30pm)
Week 2: 8/21 - 24 (5:30-7:30pm) ** School starts 8/23 **
Jamboree - Saturday 8/26 @ West Marshall (State Center, IA) - we will know times later
Week 3: 8/28 - 31 (5:30-7:30pm)
Week 4 tentatively will be 9/5, 7-8. We need to get practices in but also want to avoid Labor Day and also recognize the High School game is the 8th and know there will be many who want to get to the game. We will get this worked out.
First game is scheduled for Sunday, September 10. We will post the full schedule once YSF sets and publishes it on their website.
First practice will be August 15 at 5:30pm. We will go over expectations for the players during that practice. Also, we are planning on spreading out equipment handout a bit this year so plan on us handing out helmets after first day of practice. This will give everyone a few days to get mouthguards formed correctly and give the players a chance to wear the helmets around the house a bit to get used to the fit/feel. We will provide more info on that when we get closer to first day.
Everyone, I believe we are back online! We had some issues with transfer of admins for the page and then add in now Meta is treating this as a business site (don't ask) which came with it's own set of challenges. This will be our main form of communication to parents so please subscribe to the page if you haven't already. We are also putting together a mass text list (one message has gone out already) but we may have limitations there as well. Stay tuned...
With our last game of the season yesterday, we will have equipment turn in today starting at 5:30 at the front doors of the CLW. We would like to start with the 6th graders at 5:30. 6th graders may choose to purchase their game jersey for $50, and we need that money tonight when you hand in your equipment.
5th Graders can turn in their equipment starting around 5:45. Please bring all equipment you were given anytime throughout the year - helmets, pads, practice jersey, pant/s, and game jersey if not purchasing (purchase option for 6th grade only).
Thanks for a great season, Bulldogs! We know the games might not have ended how we wanted, but the main goal of YSF is to learn the fundamentals of the game of football, practice and play hard with your teammates and friends, and have fun. We saw a lot of growth through the season. The best thing to do is to keep staying active over the year, either in another sport or on your own, and practice when you can. Hopefully we'll see most of the 5th graders again next year. Thanks to all the parents for bringing your player to practices and cheering them on during games. Thanks to all the coaches for giving your time and talents to help our players. Go Bulldogs!
Final game day YSF Bulldogs! We play at Clarion at 1:30, please have your player to the field and ready by 12:30. The field is located by the middle school. It takes about a half hour to get there from Hampton.
Address: 301 3rd Ave NE, Clarion, IA 50525
It’s a beautiful day for a football game! Go Bulldogs!
Due to the fall vocal concert tonight at the CLW, we will only have practice for an hour. Full pads and dress warm!
Game day, Bulldogs! Please have your player at the high school by 12:30, game starts at 1:30. Remind them to wear layers, it looks to be chilly and windy today. As we discussed with the players at practice on Thursday, we discourage wearing hooded sweatshirts due to the chance the hood getting pulled and someone getting hurt.
God work yesterday, Bulldogs!
Even though there was no school for HD-CAL today, we are still having practice. 5:30-7pm, shorts/pants, practice jerseys, and helmets only.
The address for todays game is
1801 Ridgewood Ave
Ames, IA 50010
United States
The field is on the south side of the school. There will be concessions and restrooms available. There is also some road construction in Ames, so just be aware of that.
Today is picture day at the HD CAL middle school. Players can wear their jerseys for pictures if they want, or can dress up - the choice is up to the player.
The game Sunday is at Ames High. Game time is 2:45 pm, players need to be there by 1:30. Please allow at least an hour for travel.
Final home game for HD CAL high school tonight. Our HS players have been the ones working chain gang and clock for the home YSF games and we appreciate their work. Come out and support the big Bulldogs - 9/10 game starts at 5:00, varsity game starts at 7:30.
Practice tonight will end at 7:00. It will still start at 5:30 and is full pads.
Happy Homecoming Friday! I think we got almost all, if not all, members signed permission forms back to the middle school to allow them to ride in the parade. The float/hay rack will be at the middle school, in the back parking lot. Members will be excused around 1:30 to get on the float and go to the high school for the parade. Once the parade is over, the float will go back to the middle school and players will be expected to finish out the school day *unless* they were checked out by a parent before the parade started.
Homecoming game is tonight at 7:30. If your player doesn’t have an activity pass, he can use 10 bark bucks to get into the game, but those must be turned into the middle school office before the end of the day today.
Go Bulldogs!!
