The Velo Femmes The Velo Femmes is an all-women team of advanced cyclists who are passionate about challenging themselves and each other in the sport.

In January 2015 long-time cyclists Pam Christopherson, Sarah Drilias, Julie Mainwood, Erin Ninmer and Eileen Seeger launched “The Velo Femmes,” a team consisting of approximately 25 Milwaukee-area women who like to ride their road bikes--FAST!!!! The "Founding Five," and many of the team members, have spent several years riding with and mentoring to women in “sofa to saddle” programs, and still do. However, there were limited opportunities to ride fast without leaving slower women riders behind. So, we created a niche team of women who can handle a fast, challenging ride! The Velo Femmes ("VF") provide an avenue for advanced-female cyclists who are passionate about challenging themselves and each other in the sport, to hone their skills to become stronger and safer riders, and be the best stewards of cycling in Milwaukee. Team members include experienced riders, endurance athletes, and current and former racers. We promote and encourage the sport and community spirit, and use our talents and abilities to their full potential. We offer weekly rides, skills clinics, and promote the cycling community through membership in the Wisconsin Bike Fed and supporting local cycling groups and events. The VF Rides are for strong, fast female cyclists who can roll at a speed of 20 mph (….or so) on the flats. This ride is for women who have the endurance to ride distances of 30+ miles at these speeds, can ride in a pace line comfortably and demonstrate advanced bike handling skills. There is no “ride leader” on our rides, but the route will be posted. The route does include sprints at specified points with cool down sections to regroup. When the sprint sections start, riders must be comfortable with high-speed pack riding or content to ride off the back. This ride is for independent, self-reliant, experienced cyclists. This is a drop ride, however riders may string out into smaller groups riding the same speeds. Minimum Cyclist Requirements: • You love to ride fast (can maintain 17-23mph in a group ride) • You are outside on your bike as much as possible (ride 100 miles/week) • You love your bike and it shows (maintain your bike and can change a flat tire) • You obey all rules of the road • You have advanced bike-handling skills (can ride in pace line, two across touching elbows, and pinkies and can comfortably draft behind another rider no more than one wheel length) • You are positive and encouraging & You enjoy being pushed outside of your comfort zone!!

💜 Thank You for Supporting Women's Cycling! 💜

Because of the incredible generosity of our Velo Femmes members, friends, families, and supporters, we raised $1,865 for the Women's Pro Prime at the Tosa Village Classic!

Those donations allowed us to award two cash primes:
🏁 $865 Prime to Sami Donnelly of Whoosh - NZ Cycling Project
🏁 $1,000 Prime to Paola Munoz of Fearless Femme

Just as meaningful as the fundraising was the amazing crowd that lined the course to cheer on these talented women athletes. The energy, encouragement, ringing cowbells, and enthusiastic support helped make the Women's Pro Series Finale an unforgettable event.

Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, and came out to celebrate women's cycling with us. Together, we're helping grow our cycling community and recognizing the dedication and talent of these incredible racers.

We can't wait to do it again next year! 💜🚴‍♀️🔔

🚴‍♀️ Support Women's Cycling! 🚴‍♀️

The Velo Femmes are proud to once again sponsor the Women's Pro/1/2 Prime at the Café Hollander Tosa Village Classic during the Tour of America's Dairyland, and we'd love your help!

Our goal is to raise a cash prime that rewards these incredible athletes and demonstrates our community's support for women's racing. Every dollar goes directly toward the prime—whether you can give $5, $10, $20, or more, every contribution makes a difference.

💜 To donate:

Did you know that more than one quarter of women's professional cyclists receive no salary or income? Women's cycling continues to be underrepresented and under-supported and we want to change that. Please help us support women's cycling by donating to the Velo Femmes crowd-funding primes for the women's races at this year's Tour of America's Dairyland Tosa Village Classic on Sunday, June 23rd.

A "prime" (or preem) is a cash prize that goes to the first athlete across the line of a randomly-selected bell lap during a race at a criterium race. This year, our goal is to raise over $2000 so we can sponsor primes for the women's races, but we need your help to elevate these incredible athletes. You can donate via Venmo -Femmes, give cash to any Velo Femmes team member, or donate to a Velo Femmes bucket the day of the race.

We expect to see some exciting competition at this year's event, as the National Championship races will be held in May, so won’t compete with ToAD this year. There should be a full field of top contenders who would love to take home a healthy prize amount on the last day of the series!

Thanks for your support and see you at the races!
