🏁 Race Update 🏁

This weekend, we headed out to the new MPR Raceway / Motion Performance in Gimli. It was great to be back at the track and see how much it has improved!

Our day started off strong, with Skylar making a couple of really good passes. Unfortunately, on the third pass, it looks like we may have hurt a head gasket and a piston.

Now it’s time to tear the engine down and see what the internals look like. We’re hopeful we can get everything repaired, back together, and ready to finish out the last few races of the season.

We had planned to race at Top End Interstate Raceway this weekend, but unfortunately, due to the circumstances, Skylar will not be racing.

This has definitely been a trying year with the new car, but we’re learning more with every challenge and are excited to see where the future takes us. Every pass, every setback, and every repair is part of the journey.

Not every race weekend is about turning on win lights. Sometimes the biggest victories happen in the pits.

Our goal heading into Brainerd last weekend was to get some valuable test time before the upcoming NHRA Double Divisional in a few weeks.

Friday started with a few test passes, but it was clear something wasn’t right with the car. That evening, several friends gave up their time to come over and help us troubleshoot. We made a number of changes and were hopeful we had found the problem.

Saturday morning, Skylar took the car for a warm-up lap around the pits, and we could tell the issue was still there. The rest of the day was spent chasing the problem, eventually leading us to pull the intake after discovering a vacuum leak.

Sunday we made two more test passes. While the vacuum leak was fixed, the car still wasn’t happy. Rather than risk hurting the engine, we made the tough decision to load up early and head home.

The story didn’t end there.

Monday evening, with Chad’s help, we found a carburetor setting that was way off. After making some substantial changes, we’re confident we’re finally headed in the right direction.

Racing has a way of reminding you that this sport is rarely a one-person effort. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took time out of their weekend—and even after we got home—to help us chase this issue. Your knowledge, time, and willingness to jump in mean more than you know.

Weekend Update:

Saturday was a great day of testing the car and getting it working well. We had been dealing with a stutter and finally got it cleared up and running great.

Sunday Skylar entered into competition and ended up losing first round. The team continues to learn a lot and will try again this coming weekend.

We headed out to Top End Interstate Raceway this weekend for some more testing with the new car. Skylar made 4 very consistent passes in the car and is getting more and more comfortable in it. God gave us a beautiful double rainbow and a great sunset as well as a safe fun weekend of racing. Sunday we were not able to make any runs as the fuel pump decided it didn’t want to do fuel pump things anymore. New parts are on the way and we hope to be back out in Brainerd this weekend.

Take a ride with Skylar as she made her first 1/4 mile in the new car. She went a 9.82 @ 157 mph.
She has passed all her license tests and should now be good to race.

What an unbelievable weekend. Skylar’s new car wasn’t ready so the decision was made about 12 hours before we were going to the track that she would run the JR one more time. So glad that we did! Saturday she got her first Wally! This was the one goal she had never achieved in the JR. We dedicate this one to grandpa and wish he could have been there to celebrate the big accomplishment! We promised him we were gonna win him one and we are so happy to do it in the car we started this journey with. Sunday Skylar was able to get to victory lane again.

Next weekend we hope to start the licensing process in the big car!
