"Irish Athletics stars of the past, present and future unite in Athenry."

During the recent visit of Irish Olympians Cillian Greene and Thomas Barr they spent time catching up with Galway Athletics stalwart Kathryn Casserly and our own Liam Shaw. Liam is home for Christmas taking a break from his studies in Goshen College Indiana where he was awarded an Athletics scholarship.

Kathryn gives alot of time to athletics in Castlegar Athletics Club and Galway and she holds a number of National titles at both Juvenile and Masters level.

Following his very successful Juvenile career, Liam recently opened his freshman Athletics career by breaking the Goshen College Freshman Shot record, not a bad way to get your season up and running.

2024 – THE YEAR THAT THAT SAW 78 NATIONAL RECORDS BEING SMASHED From u18 to Senior level 2024 has seen the landscape for national records change a staggering 78 times. A solid testament to the elevated performances of our athletes, in what has generally been a magnificent year for Irish athletics.

Alix Joyce breaks 27-year-old Club Record for the Mile!

The rise and rise of Alix Joyce continues to show no sign of slowing down when she broke the 27 year old club record for the Mile this week.

Competing at the T&F live meet at the National Indoor Arena in Dublin, Joyce ran an outstanding time of 5.02.43 to take over a second off the old record held by Anne Marie Hynes set in 1997.

She will continue her indoor season with some races in Boston 🇺🇸 in early 2025.
