1st undefeated season for the Hornets men’s team with a dominant showing in the Grand Final tonight against Sky Hookers despite only having only 5. Well done lads. 750 large ones to celebrate with. Thanks Mega and Matty B for coming along and supporting - champions!!!

Been a while between posts, but we have to gloat about our game against the Algester Hawks this afternoon. With only 5 players the odds were against us, but a string of J's from Dagger and timely triples from Matty C kept us in the first couple of quarters. The Hawks continued to run their stack offence well against the zone however, and led by 7 for most of the game. Josh continued to push the transition and some semblance of speed to the Hornets, who looked to be running out of legs. However a massive 3 from top of the key by Mega late in the 4th gave them a fresh spurt of energy, getting them within 2 points. Another stop and the Hornets went to Dagger who was again double teamed but opened Z to the hole where he was fouled. Somehow the free throws rattled in and the game was tied with 12 seconds left. Despite playing the whole game the Hornets dug deep to get the stop. Never been a better draw, but one we'll savour for the next week. Top effort lads!!! 🏀👊😅

We're back! Time to dust off the boots and loosen the wrist - Hornets v Panthers 6pm court 1.

Congrats Hornets on finishing top of the South West AGrade ladder in our 1st season! Today's 6pm Semi Final against the Pirates should see them cursing tomorrow on International talk like a pirate day and trying to find pirate translations for 'humiliating' and 'right-royally rodgered'. Matty C on the injured list after kneeing someone in last week's tie against the Academy (who could blame him).

Last week saw the Hornets game against the Hurricanes delayed thanks to middle-aged men celebrating Fathers Day with some karate-kid re-enactments. The full Hornets player roster enjoyed a quick game of singlet swap before going on to out play and out ni**le the 'Canes. Although it was a low scoring affair, the PirateDome was abuzz at half time as Benson oiled the hips up to wind back the clock for a breakaway throw down. The Hornets now face the Academy 6pm this Sunday in the last game before finals.

Afternoon Hornets. Still cant find my jersey so need to use yours till the end of the season dagger. How many we have playing today?

The Hornets (also referred to by the opposition score bench as ‘The Sunday Night Spurs’) hit the Court with gusto for their 7pm line up against Hurricanes (more like a light South South Easterly (SSE’s)) Sunday night.

Going off like a Bull in a China shop the Hornets busted to a 15 – 3 start. The ball was distributed to the open man with style and ease. The cruise control was then punched and a 10 point lead was taken into the half….

The SSE’s were a stark contrast to the ball movement, cuts, and offensive rotation of the Hornets – preferring to run a Cleveland offence for the bulk of the game… Lebron or Kyrie at the top, and everyone else cleared out. Working harder than a one armed bricklayer in Baghdad at pounding the leather off the ball, passing was not part of their game. Pinging three balls or driving at the rack was their play, over, and over, and over again.

The Hornets knew what was required, a defensive clampdown on their no. 1 driver. Lateral movement, take it on the chest, good old fashioned hustle would be required. BUT ITS SUNDAY NIGHT. Who does that?!?!? Despite some initial hesitation of who would step up, Lobes demonstrated he was clearly the man for the challenge. Tougher than a woodpeckers lips he stepped to the fore and took the charge bang on the digits… And in subsequent plays continued to demonstrate to Mr Lebronwannabe that just like Gandalf the Grey once said, “You shall not pass”. Couple of minutes later we had a Bronbaby moment and old mate got a tech foul and benched…. Booahahahah roared the Hornets.

Matty C in his daring display of Kobe’ness kept dropping 3 balls without conscience throughout the second half….. After hitting ‘nought’ in the first, surely one would drop soon. Sweating like a gypsy with a mortgage he prayed one would drop, but despite the will of teammates and the masses of Hornets fans lining the stadium bleachers the glad wrapped ring proved impenetrable!! Surely it was Superglad Wrap! Bounce back for the buckets next week MC!

Tony (you should see how fast I am in spikes!) Stocks demonstrated that whilst we may be Spurs, there is still speed and spring in the legs, beating the opposition convincingly in offensive transition on numerous occasions. Many a bucket finished with left hand finesse.

Smoother than 1000 thread Egyptian Cotton sheets, ZEUS chimed in a lazy 14 Points whilst his co-smooth conspirator Benson had 16. Hide a contact lens Hamilton returned after a week off to pick up 20 – old legs do require recovery!

Full Time Score was 82 to 48 – though we all know the Stocks 3 ball from halfway counted…. 85 – 48 IT IS!!!!

Next (victim) Game is Basketball Academy – 6pm Sunday 24 July. The last dual featured some solid ni**le, including the Academy (Kerle included) leaving the bench with Angst after a hard foul at the rack. Ringside seats will fill up fast…. BE THERE!
