It’s been an awesome first week for the 2023-2024 Men’s/Women’s Homer Wrestling Season capped off by our first of 4 Community Service Events! Each one of our student-athletes represented our program, district, families and themselves in impressive fashion at the St Mary’s Christmas Bazaar. Our coaching staff couldn’t have been prouder! As an added bonus, they were also fed by the great people over at St Mary’s 😉

Also, Happy Birthday to one of our senior wrestlers and NYS Finalist, Miss Lilly Sorenson.

Big shout out to everyone in our program, including some dedicated young men and miniature young ladies, who took the time to help in a variety of ways at our Chicken BBQ Fundraiser during Porch Fest in Cortland yesterday. Thank you. There’s no better wrestling family in the country committed to our current and future Homer Wrestlers and helping our program grow. I’m incredibly proud everyday to be apart of it!

Huge “THANK YOU “ to Andrew Pierce at the Frosty Caboose for being such a gracious and accommodating host! Awesome venue, awesome atmosphere, and the ice cream speaks for itself! 😉

Lastly but certainly not least, thank you to our local communities for their continued support. Your generosity and love make opportunities and positive experiences for our young people possible.

This past weekend three of our Homer Wrestlers took on the challenge of the biggest & toughest wrestling camp in New England, Assassins Intensive Wrestling Camp in NH. It was year #3 for both Dominic Burlingame & Hunter Lines at Assassins Camp and Garret Carr’s first year. Within those 72 hours of camp, over 100 wrestlers battled through some of the toughest techniques, workouts and duals against each other.

Throughout these three days of camp, coaches award positives to the campers who led the camp in intensity, attitude, coach ability, effort, accountability, etc. At the end of camp all the positives were tallied up & three wrestlers were awarded 35 pounds of solid steel…..the Assassins Hammer Award. This year one of our own Homer wrestlers (Hunter Lines) was one of the three recipients of this prestigious hammer award.

Thank you to all the Assassin wrestling staff & clinicians for your endless hours and commitment you all pour out to give our kids this opportunity each year!
