Make the Rules Easier to Comply

It is with a great pleasure to resume teaching baseball to the future of our country and with the possibility of continuing the Pinewood Baseball league.

I would like to address the following protocols that I would like to comply with in the Pinewood baseball League but there is a barrier to my success. The competent authority is asking us to have a Covid test done on 40 players which ranges around $125.00 a person every week and on game day they need to have a rapid antigen test done at around $25.00 a person.

I personally have 2 kids participating and I am a coach, that is $450.00 a week in order to allow our kids to participate in a sport that is taking the country by storm with Bahamians taking center stage in the MLB. I must ask are these requirements asked for all sports and does the parliament of our Bahamas have to meet these stringent rules in order to operate.

It further saddens me that even after this was done there seems to be no response from the Ministry of Youth Sport and Culture to help small organizations during this pandemic get our kids active and the mind frame to maintain the college scholarships that this sport has allowed them to obtain.

We want the best for our kids and the Pinewood Community, it's just these rules are not feasible for the community to comply with.
