Another amazing spring ski day here in the beautiful back hills of Empire.
Huge bummer the North American Vasa Ski Races are cancelled next weekend.
Escaping to the UP for more snow isn't an option this winter - they are hurting for snow too?

We LOVE spring skiing. The weather is weird though. I have never seen a worm on top of the snow before - especially in January. Today, February 2nd, there was great crust skiing and the 1st ants were out in the sun - typically a March or April thing, but NEVER in February?

The snow set up last night and we skied on Magic Corn today. Yesterday we had an awesome odd back and forth mix of snow squalls and sunshine - love the tree shadows when the sun comes out.

We xc skied out past Pearl Lake yesterday in the mist/rain - 2 hours out/2 hours back. Today we skied in the fog and loved it. Spring skiing is awesome.

Nordic Skiing and Nordic Walking at Forbush Nordic Center. Ski and travel writers were introduced to Nordic Walking and Nordic Skiing. The best xc skiing in 2024, here in the Midwest, has been at Forbush - thanks to their massive snow making system covering 2 kilometers. All 30 kilometers should be open by Wednesday if the weather man is correct.

Nordic Walking Instruction provided by Peter and Marlene Edwards - utilizing the teaching progression of the American Nordic Walking System. Due to the lack of snow we were allowed to walk on the trails not open for skiing - allowing the group of ski and travel writers to experience the huge fun and benefits of Nordic Skiing and Nordic Walking.
