Mid-Career Crisis?

You may feel alone, but a mid-career crisis can happen to anyone. Mid-career crises are a widespread regularity across the globe and among all types of workers. It's a very normal process that happens because of our thinking about our life and careers at this mid-point of our careers. The good news however is that once through the crisis, job satisfaction increases again, in many cases to even higher levels than in the early career.

Simply changing careers during this period of dissatisfaction, without processing related thoughts and emotions, can lead to having the same dissatisfaction in a new career, and again feeling an even worse career crisis. Career coaching helps you navigate this crisis by giving you the tools to identify and release unrealized and overly rosy career and life expectations, let go of regret, and exploring new opportunities to rebuild or build a new career and life under a new, more self-aware mindset.

In a world where instant results are often expected, the pursuit of long-term goals requires patience and consistency. Whether it's striving for fitness milestones in the gym or advancing in career and personal endeavors, immediate gratification is not always the answer. The most valuable achievements are often the result of persistent effort over time.

The temptation to abandon our current approach when quick results are not evident can be strong. However, true progress is built on the foundation of steady dedication. Abruptly changing strategies or giving up prematurely can hinder our journey towards success. Seeking guidance from mentors, be it a trainer for physical fitness or a coach for professional and personal growth, can provide valuable insights and support in navigating the path towards our aspirations.

As Abraham Lincoln aptly put it, "Good things come to those who wait." Embracing this mindset of patience and perseverance can lead us to the breakthroughs and accomplishments we seek, reminding us that the journey towards our goals is a marathon, not a sprint.

Becoming present in the moment is living, it's one of the best things we can give ourselves - it's the work of our lives. Being present in the moment is living for this moment now, letting go of the past, future, and expectations of who and what we think we should be. Letting go of past things that we loved can be very challenging when trying to become more present, as it often involves confronting feelings of nostalgia, sentimentality, dreams and potentially even grief for experiences that are no longer accessible in the present moment.

Working with a coach that has relevant experience in the process of letting go and being more present is an invaluable tool to progress our journey. Having someone to impartially listen yet care is invaluable.

How do you know what you want to do? Because you do it! Do it!

Growing up, I was often told I “couldn’t do” certain things. Some people (including some authority figures and some family) told me that because they saw me as weak and likely to fail. Out of sheer determination to prove them wrong, I struggled and through being motivated by the need for validation and through fear of those voices being right, I proved them wrong in many cases. It almost became a scenario where I did and chased what I was told I wasn't able to do. However, for the things I wanted the most, my own internal voice told me I was not capable, so I often left those items off the table. Settling for less than what I really wanted. When I asked myself what I did really want (my vision of my best life), it was often unclear because subconsciously I threw out those things I really wanted out of fear of not being good enough to achieve or obtain them.

I don’t need to validate myself that way anymore, and I also don’t need to listen to those voices anymore. I know myself better now, know my value, know my gifts and abilities, and know that I am capable of reaching my goals. Getting a “NO” or “you’re not good enough” response or “you’re better at this” is no reason to give up on what I want. I know myself. I know what I want. I value myself and my abilities. I know what’s for me better than anyone else in the world.

This is the power of getting to know oneself better. This is the power of the tools coaching brings to the table to help people succeed. It's a whole world of change, just by changing some thoughts.

Workplace culture plays a crucial role in our career success and personal happiness. Holding all other factors constant, workplace culture alone can be the determining factor between personal job and career success or failure. While higher pay might be tempting in firms with cultures that do not fit our individual style, the long-term toll on mental and physical health and happiness must be considered in addition to pay. Personal fit for a particular culture should be assessed in job interviews as it significantly impacts our well-being and overall career success.

Mindset is crucial for achieving personal and business goals and objectives. Being self-motivated and engaging motivated employees who bring their best to projects leads to success. Securing employee buy-in and breaking personal and group mental barriers are also vital for project success, especially in demanding projects such as an building personal relationships, or a business IPO or merger. Fear and/or negativity in regards to these relationships/projects can significantly hinder results and negatively impact the success and bottom line. Todd Weatherford Coaching helps individuals and businesses break mental blocks and barriers and work towards goals using a high-energy mental mindset.

My biggest achievements were always made outside of my comfort zone. I learned in the gym "no pain, no gain." That applies to most areas of life. When we are in our comfort zone, we stop growing.

The Key to Effective Networking

When networking, our mindset plays a crucial role in our interactions. Approaching networking from a scarcity mindset (I need business, I need a job, I don't like networking) can lead us to feel inadequate before we even start and can impact how we relate to others. On the other hand, an abundance mindset (I have great skills to offer, I have a great business opportunity to offer, I am a good conversationalist) shifts the game entirely. Embracing the belief in our skills, talents, and what we have to offer transforms how we feel and allows us to connect in positive and motivating ways with others. It's the distinction between feeling at ease or anxious, and ultimately, between establishing meaningful connections or not.

The Fear of Losing Control 01/10/2024

In times of uncertainty, we all experience some fear of losing control, of f*cking it up. However, we can never control the future. We cannot control things outside of ourselves. We can only control our own thoughts and actions. The following is a very good article on letting go of the fear of losing control.

The Fear of Losing Control What's behind this fear and how you can overcome it.
