How to MTB in the street After two weeks of rainy weather, the mountain bike trails are closed for maintenance. When trails aren’t an option, you can always find stuff to ride around...
St Louis Area Mountain Bikers (SLAMB)
Recreational mountain biking, est. in 2010. Beginner to advanced level. Group rides at local/regional trails. St. Events are free to attend.
Louis Area Mountain Bikers (SLAMB) is a recreational mountain biking group of all ages (18+) and skill levels. You’ll ride some incredible trails with some great people, make new friends and take back lots of awesome memories. We ride all of the singletrack in the area as well as trails in the surrounding regions and other states. We plan night rides, day trips and camping weekends plus post bike
I’m sorry to break it to you, but mountain biking is going to ruin your life. In fact, if you recognise any of these 7 symptoms then it may have already happened :
1. You can’t drive past a fellow rider on the motorway with their bikes on the car, without giving a big wave.
2. Whenever you go on holiday you will miss your bike. Take your bike. Or rent a bike. Your first thought when booking a holiday is going to be “are there any trails?!”
3. When you aren’t riding, you will be thinking about bikes. You will be reading posts about riding on Facebook and Instagram. You’ll be reading bike reviews. Shopping for new bike parts. Researching new trails. It will become all encompassing.
4. You will infuriate those around you. You will have a bad crash. You will break a bone. Tear a ligament. You will terrify your family, only to get straight back on the bike as soon as is humanly possible (or maybe before).
5. You won’t be able to pass a bike shop without going in. 20 minutes later you’ll have bought a new riding jersey, pair of gloves and some dry l**e. You’ll tell yourself it’s because “It’s good to support the local bike shops right?”
6. You won’t be able to enjoy the sunshine fully again unless you are on your bike. You can have a great day. But if the sun is shining, in the back of your mind you will be wishing you were out enjoying those trails!
7. You’ll read this far. Realise you do all 6. And then have an overriding feeling to get out on your bike! You’ll want to hear the tyres on the trail. The click of your free hub. And the ‘whoop!’ from your mates as they fly down a trail.
Well that’s it. My life’s ruined. How about yours?! 🤘

For anyone who's already planning their 2025 race calendar ... we're officially locked and loaded with our 2025 race date: Sunday, March 30th.
That's not all ... we're also changing the race format completely and now offering 3 unique options: 20k (1 lap), 50k (3 Laps), and 100k (6 Laps) Distances.
Lastly, love it or hate it, we're removing the Climb-Out finish! Instead, we're going to Start/Finish/Score Laps at the Lower Lot Gate instead. This will allow easier access for those wanting to watch the race, and create a killer Start/Finish shoot with Team/Vendor tents flanking the connector on both sides.
All you BTers now have a reason to keep up your Fitness through the Winter 😉 the 5 month count-down starts now!
