OFFICIAL STATEMENT | WCIA
Wheelchair Cricket India Association (WCIA) remains committed to transparency, athlete welfare, and the integrity of wheelchair cricket in India.
In light of recent claims regarding an "Indian Wheelchair Cricket Team" participating in Sri Lanka, WCIA has issued a public clarification to protect players, stakeholders, sponsors, media organizations, and the wider disability sports community from misinformation.
β’ No team, captain, or official for the said event was authorized or recognized by WCIA.
β’ Clarification received from Sri Lanka confirms the event was a club-level tournament and not an officially sanctioned bilateral international series.
β’ WCIA does not endorse any unauthorized representation of India in wheelchair cricket.
β’ The Association continues to uphold merit-based selection, transparent pathways, and athlete-first policies.
We request all media houses, sponsors, government agencies, and stakeholders to verify any claims regarding Indian Wheelchair Cricket directly with WCIA before publication or endorsement.

π World Environment Day reminds us that every action leaves a lasting impact.
During the Super 5 stage of the 5th National Wheelchair Cricket Championship 2026, an environmental commitment was made β for every run scored, one tree would be planted.
The result?
π 3008 Runs Scored
π± 3008 Trees to be Planted
As we celebrate World Environment Day, we proudly reaffirm that commitment. The plantation drive will be carried out equally by all 20 participating teams of the championship, transforming sporting achievement into a greener tomorrow.
From the cricket field to the environment, every run continues to make a difference.
π 3008 Runs = 3008 Trees
