It’s a wrap, 2023 Alaska Super Stock Championship dirt series season has ended. We had a great maiden year winning 1st over all at Thunder Valley Speedway in Willow and 2nd overall at Twin City Raceway-Circle Track Division night races in Kenai. We did not race in Fairbanks, maybe next year if conditions become more favorable. We are proud of our accomplishments this season for the fact it’s been 5-years since we raced on dirt in a car that has only seen a track 1-time in over 20 years! SLR restored the 1966 Chevelle back to relevancy and made it fast again! We could not have accomplished this success without our SLR and G&G team members and especially our team of sponsors listed below that makes all the difference to keep us moving forward, faster, throttle down……

Two day shootout at Twin City Raceway-Circle Track Division in Kenai ended on a rain out on the second day Saturday. B-Stock class did run a full race day both heats and a main, which we finished 2nd behind Jesse Wilson in #34 car. We have not heard the final results but believe to be in the top 3 in points and will keep you all posted. We want to thank the Twin City Raceway track officials team who did a great job, thank you for the fun time Kenai!

Both Mady Stichal and Joey Anderson did a great job driving in their season debut at Alaska Raceway Park. Joey worked very hard driving #23 SLR Thunder Stock extremely well, making faster lap times than previous outings in 2022. Nice job, Joey!
Mady showed off her talent in the SLR Late Model, making a clean pass on the outside to podium in the feature. Exciting racing for a small field of cars!
Guy Hamilton in his #13 Monte Carlo was running on rails and fast until he broke and DNF. We are very pleased with our drivers efforts and SLR Team Members performance was exceptional!

About Stu Laidlaw Racing
Stu Laidlaw Racing LLC ran in the 2020 NASCAR GCI Late Model class with our #18 car and Pruhs Construction Thunder Stocks class with our #23 car. Late Models are the most recognized race cars in the country. Our intention when Stu started racing in the Late Models was to make the car even faster and continue to dominate for another State Championship. This year we accomplished that goal!
Stu Laidlaw’s racing career started in 2010 racing stock cars on dirt tracks in Willow, Kenai, and Fairbanks. Starting in the Hobby Stock Class, Stu quickly became proficient in winning races. He soon moved up to the B Stock car class. B Stock is the top stock car class in the Alaska circuit. By hard work and determination, Stu and his team made his stock car the fastest car in its class!
In 2018 Stu transitioned from the dirt track to the asphalt oval track at Alaska Raceway Park, in Palmer. He acquired the Creech Motorsports #11 championship late model car, which won this series two years running in 2016 and 2017. Stu lead in points overall for all rookies in 2018 and in 2019 he came in 3rd overall in the Late Model class. In the 2020 season, Stu was one of the most consistent drivers in his class, finishing two races in 4th place and the rest in 2nd or 3rd place. His consistency propelled him to first place in points and the 2020 GCI Late Model champion!
