The Boundary Waters is one of my favorite wild places I’ve ever been and holds a place near and dear to my heart.
You can make whatever adventure you want. It’s a place that can show you incredible beauty and breathtaking views, and a place that can humble you in a matter of minutes. It’s wild in every sense of the word. The weather, the water, the fishing, the remoteness. Out there, you’re not in control, and that’s part of what makes it so special.
It’s a place where memories are made, friendships grow stronger, and a place that lingers in your mind long after you’ve left, already planning your next trip back. It’s a place where generations have paddled the same waters, camped on the same shorelines, and watched the same sunsets.
Fishing is one of my favorite parts of the adventure. Chasing walleyes, smallmouth, and northern pike is a blast, but what keeps bringing me back is everything else.
The Boundary Waters has a way of bringing us back to our roots. Life gets simple out there. Paddle. Fish. Gather wood. Cook over a fire. Watch the sunset. Wake up and do it again. In a world that never seems to slow down, it’s one of the few places that still does.
It’s also one of the places where I feel closest to God. Away from the noise and distractions of everyday life, it’s easier to hear His voice, see His creation, and remember what really matters.
The Boundary Waters has a way of reminding you that sometimes the best thing you can do is return to the wild
