🌍 Today, on International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPwD), we celebrate inclusion—a choice we must make every single day. 💙

Observed annually on December 3rd, this year’s theme, “Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future,” highlights the vital role people with disabilities play in shaping a better world for all. It calls for their full participation in decision-making processes and recognizes their leadership as central to achieving the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.

For 56 years, Special Olympics has embodied this vision, empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities through the transformative power of sport. When we choose to include, magic happens. Lives are transformed—not just for athletes, but for their families, communities, and all who dare to see ability over disability.

This year’s theme aligns with the global momentum toward inclusion, as reflected in the Pact for the Future and the upcoming 2025 World Summit for Social Development. Let’s continue amplifying the voices and leadership of persons with disabilities—at every level, from global initiatives to local communities.

Together, we can create a brighter, more inclusive, and sustainable future where everyone belongs. 🌟

🌟 Overcoming Obstacles, Together! 🌟

Last November 23, Special Olympics Pilipinas joined the Obstacle Sports Community Workout for Adaptive/Para-Athletes and Persons with Disabilities at Bridgetowne Obstacle Park in Pasig City. 🤝🏼

From 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, we helped one another conquer every challenge, proving that teamwork and determination know no limits! 🧗‍♂️✨

This inspiring event was organized by the Pilipinas Obstacle Sports Federation in partnership with the National Council on Disability Affairs, the Philippine Sports Commission, and Pasig City.

👟 Who is Coach Ethel?
She’s been part of the Special Olympics Pilipinas family since 1977—starting as a young athlete partner in grade school! From running with her dad back then to championing inclusion today, Ethel’s heart has always been with our athletes. 💖

📚 A Physical Education graduate with a passion for teaching, Ethel has worn many hats: competitor, unified partner, coach, and mentor. She’s the driving force behind bringing Bocce to schools, creating training programs, and empowering coaches and officials nationwide. A Bocce Goddess, indeed! 🌬️👑

🎯 Fun fact: Ethel’s love for Bocce began at a training by Special Olympics Asia Pacific. Now, she’s our lead coach, and her work is shaping the future of inclusive sports in the Philippines!
