They both won their meet, they both won the CUNYAC Regular Season (First Place) Championship, and honored final season swimmers Tercia Dobrzynski, Joyce Wong, Kristen Zhou, Dylan Cellamare, Youssef Elkhouly, Duncan Huie, and Valentyn Titarenko on Bearcats Appreciation Night!

Former CUNYAC commissioner and Lehman Hall of Fame member Ted Hurwitz passed away earlier this week.

Hurwitz served as CUNYAC Commissioner from 1991-2003. Prior to his tenure as CUNYAC commissioner, Hurwitz spent 22 years (1969-1991) at Lehman College, where he guided two teams to championships. With Hurwitz in charge, the Lehman women’s varsity basketball team became Hudson Valley Athletic Conference champions in 1979, and the following year won the New York State Division III crown. In 1989, the Lightning men’s tennis team won the CUNYAC title under his direction.

Hurwitz was inducted into the Lehman Athletic Hall of Fame in 1999.

Services will be held Sunday, December 22 at 11 am at Plaza Jewish Community Chapel, 630 Amsterdam Avenue, New York, N.Y. 10024, with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery, 12 Market Street, Saddle Brook, NJ 07663.
