The energy we bring vs. the energy we leave with 😅
Behind every strong dancer is a lot of hard work (and very tired legs). Highland is no joke! It’s a full body workout that builds strength, cardio, and endurance all in one class.
Come dance with us and feel the burn!! 🔥

Every dancer starts somewhere 🤍
Some begin at 4, learning their very first steps. Others start later, bringing confidence, focus, and a fresh love for movement!
There’s no “right” time, only your time.
If Highland dance has been on your mind for you or your child, we’d love to welcome you into our studio ✨

Every dance studio has these dancers, and we wouldn’t have it any other way 🫶
Send this to your people, the ones who make dance your favourite part of the week!
Send to your dance besties, and bonus points if they send one back 😘
If you’ve ever been personally victimized by your choreography notes… you’re not alone 😅
And that’s exactly why we started filming our choreos at the end of each day instead of relying on notes alone. Because somehow, what made perfect sense yesterday, is now utter nonsense.
We still keep notes for things like spacing and positions, but there have definitely been times where we start teaching and realize a dancer would need to teleport across the stage in 4 counts, or cheat a transition just to be on the right foot…
But somehow (often with a bit of reworking and a lot of problem-solving) it always comes together in the end ✨
Welcome back to Highland 101 ✨
Today we’re breaking down all the pieces of a female Highland dance kilt outfit, and exactly how to wear it! A kilt outfit can look like a lot at first, but with just a little time and practice, you’ll soon feel confident, prepared, and proud to take the stage.
If you’re just starting your own Highland journey—save this video for later or send it to someone who needs it!

Starting something new can feel like a big step, for both you and your child!
You want to know they’ll be supported.
That they won’t feel behind.
That someone will take the time to actually teach them, not just expect them to keep up.
At White Hart, we specialize in guiding dancers from their very first steps, building strong foundations, nurturing confidence, and creating a space where they feel like they belong from day one!
If you’ve been thinking about enrolling your child, this is your sign ✨ We’d love to welcome you to our dance family!

Happy Tartan Day!! As Scottish dancers, we appreciate tartan more than most, and are so happy to share our love for the beautiful kilts and tartan that we get to wear while dancing! 🤍
Even after years and years of dancing, knowing the corrections, and hearing the same reminders over and over, we’re still guilty of a few bad habits…
But that’s the thing about Highland dance, it never lets you get comfortable. It’s technical. It’s demanding. It challenges you in ways that push both your mind and your body, and there’s always another level to reach, another detail to master, another reason to keep showing up and pushing yourself further.
And that’s what makes it so rewarding 🤍
From the outside, things like tying Highland dance shoes (ghillies), can feel a little intimidating, but every dancer starts somewhere!
In this Highland 101, we’re walking you (and your parents!) through tying your ghillies, step by step so you can feel confident, comfortable, and ready for class.
Save this for later, and if you have any questions, send us a message—we’re always happy to help ✨

It’s easy to see dance as just another activity, but over time, it becomes so much more than that for so many reasons that go far beyond the studio.
You’re investing in who your child is becoming, every time they walk into the studio, try something new, and keep going, even when it’s hard.
The steps are just a small part of it 🤍
There’s something so special about seeing highland dance represented in TV & movies 🤍
However, not every depiction gets it quite right… It’s pretty easy to spot when highland dancers aren’t involved in the process behind the scenes. The details matter in this style of dance, and that’s what makes Highland so strong, precise, and unique!
Did I miss any Highland dance from tv & movies? And how would YOU rate these depictions?
