How to make room for your gender questioning teen in this political climate?
Because you can!
Small things can make an impact! Let's focus on language.
🌻 Use pronouns in e-mail signatures.
🌻 Share your pronouns when introducing yourself.
Chosen names.
🌺 Use chosen pronouns and names about people.
🌺 Also when they're not present at the moment!
When you make a mistake...
🌿 Just apologize, correct and move on.
🌿 Don't make it about you. Focus on the person talking.
🌿 Take care of your own feelings and ego afterwards.
🌿 You are not your mistakes.
Update:
🍀 Instead of "Hey ladies/guys!"
🍀 Say: "Hey everyone/team/friends/ folks!"
Use neutral, inclusive language until you know more.
🌸 "Partner" instead of boyfriend/girlfriend/ wife/husband.
🌸 "Parent" instead of mother/father.
Ask and demand.
🌼 Ask for 3rd gender markers on questionnaires, forms, etc.
🌼 Ask for multiple options.
🌼 Ask for people to be able to write what they want.
Update your LGBTQIA+ vocabulary.
🌷 Try: https://www.hrc.org/resources/glossary-of-terms
🌷 Update your vocabulary regularly.
🌷 Understand and accept that vocabulary changes.
Talk!
⭐ Talk positively about LGBTQIA+ people.
⭐ If that's not safe, then talk positively about famous people who are standing up for LGBTQIA+ people.
RESIST!
🌈 Do NOT comply in advance.
RESIST!
🌈 But also take care of your safety.
Please, save and share.

My dog’s advice for coping in an emergency:
1. Take a nap when you can
2. Be ready for emergency alerts
3. When alert signal happens; seek safety immediately
4. Check your neighbor and give them a hug
5. Take a walk and shake it off
6. Drink some water
7. Eat
8. Take a nap when you can
(This all happened today afternoon when we got loud emergency alerts by accident. After 15 minutes there were so many active dogs outside. Animals are pure instinct and wisdom ❤️ Routines are what we need in an emergency.)
Stay safe everyone. My DMs are open if you need emotional support.

Surviving the Holidays when You’re LGBTQIA+
🎄Read through and create your own comfy feeling.
A List of Nice Things
🎄If you haven't already taken the time to reflect on the things that bring you joy, now is the perfect moment to do so!
🎄What activities do you genuinely enjoy?
🎄Who are the friends or loved ones you definitely want to connect with during the holiday season?
🎄Do you need any specific accessories or equipment for your favorite activities, or are you looking for forms of movement like stretching or running?
🎄Perhaps you have a favorite artist, movie, or even a TV series that provides you with entertainment - I do recommend checking out Heartstopper!
Make it real
🎄Make a list of at least 15 things that bring you joy, ranging from small pleasures to larger activities.
🎄Keep this list easily accessible so you can quickly choose something uplifting to do whenever difficult feelings or boredom catch you off guard or when you want to create more 'spoons' in your day.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Plan, take care and enjoy
🎄If you feel like more support would be a good idea, I’m available on a few occasions during the holidays. Just send me a DM.
🎄And hey, if you want rainbow cake during the holidays, go get yourself some rainbow cake ;)

Surviving the Holidays when You’re LGBTQIA+
Read through to create a safety plan AND practice some skills.
5. Safety plan
❤️ It is a legit option to LEAVE a situation.
❤️ Create a safety plan that outlines how you can exit the situation quickly, who you can rely on for support and how will you contact them.
❤️ Example: leave the dinner table, go for a walk, send a msg to your parent, return home directly into your own room, engage in a fun activity such as music or chat with friends who get you.
TIPP-skills to help right now
❤️ T = Temperature. Change your body temperature, for example, by making a snowball with your bare hands or by running cold water over your wrists.
❤️ I = Intensive Exercise. Get your heart rate up, for instance, by performing squats followed by a big jump. Repeat to break a sweat!
❤️ P = Paired Muscle Relaxation. Tense different muscle groups in your body, working from your fingertips and toes toward the center. Do this one muscle group at a time for 5-10 seconds. Tighten, relax, and repeat.
❤️ P = Paced Breathing. You can find more suitable animations for rhythmic breathing on YouTube. The key is to slow down your breathing, especially during exhalation, as this helps calm the body.
