Last week, I found a journal entry that I had written back in March 2004... I was going through a emotionally difficult time period and I took to the pages for release. All these years later I see why journaling is a key tool for emotional and mental hygiene and health. I came across Julia Cameron Morning Pages 9 years ago while getting my Holistic Health Certification at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and I've come back to them time and time again over the years.
Morning pages have supported me through very stressful work periods, and the isolation, loneliness and grief I endured during the pandemic and its something I've recently taken up again, as I re-build and recommit to my morning routine.
Morning Pages increase creativity, create space for feelings and emotions to be expressed and released, opens you up to your intuition and release stress, tension and anxiety. All you have to do is write in long hand 3 pages (not less, not more) of whatever is in your mind immediately upon waking. It's best done when you are in the sleep/wake (alpha state) as you are better able to tap into your subconscious where your real feelings lie and before you are fully awake and distracted by the day. This should be free writing where you are not concerned with grammar, spelling, or structure. The pages should be private, not shared. Write what comes to mind + your innermost thoughts for 3 pages daily!
Give it a try for 21 days and continue on to 12 weeks to change your life! Do you journal or use morning pages? If not this is your sign to start... TODAY!
