Whisky Galore winter series Race # 3 Naval Point Club Lyttelton. Stunning afternoon on the Harbour with better conditions than Spring. Well done to Flying Machine Y88 for showing the fleet superior boat speed right from the start. Thanks to RO Bill Ruske for setting a perfect length course in the late autumn conditions. Thanks to all the volunteers too.

First race of Naval Point Club Lyttelton Whisky Galore winter series today. While the sub tropical river stayed away it was very light to dying from the south. RO set a nice windward leeward, with the top mark between Charteris bay and Quarantine Island with the bottom mark level with Diamond Harbour. Fully Completely Ballistic Racing sailing solo had a diabolical start 10 seconds too early at the pin, with a bearaway gybe to port tack departure behind almost everyboat in the fleet. Found ourselves behind Legacy in a 'normal high mode' which we didn't like, so tacked back onto Starboard in a clear lane with good pressure and height. Went back to the shore near poo corner and waved Head Office through on port. Snuck quietly up the shore eventually running out of water and having to tack out. Flying Machine in close company ready to pounce. Found the starboard layline for the top mark and mooched around first. No extras and apparent wind high angles down the run, effectively, gybing back down the course trying to stay in the dying puffs. Managed to maintain the seperation until about 100ms off the now shortened course and finish line. Pretty sure we were going backwards for a bit over the ground. Faint puffs on the face from the forecast easterly building, finally crossed the line for line honours doing about 1.2 knots. Fun afternoon out. Thanks to the volunteers .

Thanks to Chris Hitchings and Matt Hitchings for the awesome effort to fabricate some new rudder gudgeons/ bushes for the boat. Acetal bushes! Glamour. Long overdue.
