Is Mamelodi Sundowns killing the local game? A question often asked on media & came different views from different clubs. Was more interested in Black Leopards director Tshifhiwa Thidiela's reaction to the same question.

In light of the fact that Black Leopards have had good business with Sundowns over the years, seeing movement of players from the Limpopo outfit like Tiyane Mabunda, Lesedi Kapinga & Khuliso Mudau in recent times to the Pretoria based side.

"Sundowns have always had money. They've brought in top coaches from Europe and they were buying everyone and they were not successful. So it's not even about money", said Thidiela. So money didn't solve Mamelodi Sundowns problems, a fact many are quick to overlook.

So what did Sundowns get right to see their team dominate the PSL in the manner that they are? One thing is clear is that Pitso Mosimane laid down the blueprint that has seen the Pretoria side rise head and shoulders above the rest. How so? By creating a structure, culture & having the right individuals in that set up, from the technical area to the players themselves.

He goes on to say "But you find that a Mudau will not be at a match playing and you ask him where are you? He says 'no I need to be home and I need to be at the stadium to see what is happening. On Tuesday I need to do a report as to what Thapelo Morena did right and didn't do right".

That's the kind of culture and setup that keeps the standard extremely high amongst players themselves and the competitiveness in the group. Everyone takes themselves seriously and understand that this is a full-time job, on and off the field. If anything, teams should emulate Mamelodi Sundowns, learn and apply the basics they've got right and stop being Lazy and get to work, this will in turn help our local game to grow to greater heights.

Pay your dues.

A Pitso Mosimane's interview I watched a few weeks back, when asked about Percy Tau. How Brighton didn't value, respect or give him a chance to show his talent at that stage.

I'm all for being country biased, however, I've personally said he won't make it in the EPL, seeing that there was no mental and attitude change towards his game & improving on it. Especially in light of the fact that he's had a glimpse of playing in the champions League.

Let me break it down for you & ask a question. Name the top 1% of African players playing for the biggest clubs in the biggest leagues in Europe who have the body size of Percy Tau? Stretch that to the last 20 years, especially in the EPL, the most physical league in the world.

You signed for Brighton, Automatically, the body size issue becomes a factor, his agent or anyone for that matter didn't whisper in his ear to grow his body size? Looking currently at Mane and Salah's body sizes from Liverpool, African players who had to adapt to the physical nature of the league, then went on to marvel the world with their talent.

That's how he should be playing the game, what Mane, Salah give offensively and their work rate overall, outstanding. Is Percy Tau's game on that level... NO!!! Lucas Radebe ( Leeds United), Benni McCarthy( Blackburn Rovers), Quinton Fortune (Manchester United), Steven Pienaar (Tottenham), OJ Mabizela (Tottenham) & Kagiso Dikagcoe (Crystal Palace), Bongani Khumalo (Tottenham), these are some of the South African players who played in the English premier league and had a successful stay at the club's, some shorter the others, however the point I'm driving toward is that they had the physical stature to compete in the EPL.

We cannot runaway from that simple fact. So with all due respect Mr Pitso Mosimane, Percy Tau didn't value the chance he got to play in the biggest league in the world nor respected the EPL physical adaptation you need to make to play there. Talent alone is never enough, ever!!!
