KAOS WINS!!! KAAAOOOS WIIINS!!!

Freehold KAOS Baseball put up a 5 spot in the top of the 1st inning and never looked back outlasting the Middletown Storm, 7-2, in the USABL Championship game. This talented KAOS team was able to do what no KAOS team before it has done--bring home an USABL championship.

Congratulations to the boys and their families, and now it's on to the USABL World Series next weekend!

GO KAOS!!!

No plans for tonite? Come out and watch Freehold KAOS Baseball as we play for the USABL Championship tonite, Saturday June 10 at 5:30 PM against the Middletown Storm at McMahon Park in Middletown (Alberta Ave & Atlantic Ave, Middletown, NJ)

The only meeting between these 2 teams during the regular season went 9 innings with KAOS pushing through the go ahead run in the top of the 9th and holding on to win 2-1. There were only 6 hits in that game and 23 combined strikeouts as the Storm and KAOS pitchers kept hitters in check.

Storm comes in as the host as the #1 seed with KAOS coming in #2 after knocking the #3 Lakewood BlueClaws Academy last week in walkoff fashion, 2-1.

Should be a great game between these 2 talented teams, and a great night for baseball!

GO KAOS!!!

In the 13 year old division playoffs, Freehold KAOS Baseball had to travel to East Windsor to face a very good squad in the #2 seeded Blue Demons. In the season's prior 2 meetings, EW had absolutely dismantled KAOS in Freehold, 13-2, but then KAOS showed that they were a force to be contended with by visiting EW and taking the Blue Demons to their last at-bat before falling 6-5.

Visiting underdog, KAOS, and home side, EW, traded almost identical stats on both the pitching and hitting side of the ledger, but KAOS was able to push across 3 runs in the 5th and stave off a 7th inning rally by the favorites and secure the win.

KAOS advances to the USABL championship game this coming Saturday at 10 AM at Michael J Tighe park in Freehold.

LET'S GO KAOS!!! Come out and support the boys as they play in their final game of the fall season!

Congratulations to the players and parents of Freehold KAOS Baseball on a very successful campaign in USABL's 14 year old division. KAOS, a 13 year old team, "played up" an age group in order to see different competition from our normal age group and to challenge our players who are either already freshmen in high school or will be next year. Many of the teams we played were much bigger and would have contained 15 or even 16 year olds meaning that our 9th and 8th graders were playing against juniors, sophomores and freshman in high school.

In the last 2 weeks of the season, the team was challenged with playing 10 make-up and regularly scheduled games in 11 days, ended up playing 6 of those winning 3 of them while losing the other 3 by 1 run each to qualify for the playoffs as the #3 seed. KAOS dispatched of its first round opponent easily with a 9-1 win and then had to travel to play another playoff game away at the 13 year old level (more on that separately). Sunday we came back for the second round and our 3rd game in less than 24 hours facing the #2 seed.

When I say that this team was bigger than we are I am talking about giving 5-6 inches and 30-40 pounds per player bigger. To put things in perspective, former Freehold KAOS '99 player, Freehold Boro standout and All Shore/All State candidate, Phil Marcantonio, joined us on the sidelines for the game, was wearing his KAOS jersey and we could have inserted him into the game without our opponent batting an eye because they had 5-6 players bigger than Phil's 6' 0", 175 # frame! Only thing that stopped us was that Phil's #27 was already on our 13u roster and would have been a dupe.

Facing Shore's #1 starting pitcher and taking him well above 100 pitches in the contest, KAOS came back from deficits of 1-0 and 3-1 to tie the score. Solid fielding, clutch hitting and gritty pitching including getting out of a bases loaded and no outs jam late in the game sent the game into extra frames, but in the end KAOS was not able to capitalize on opportunities in each of the extra innings and succumbed in the bottom of the 9th that secured the win for the favorite.

All of the teams we faced were surprised to hear that were a 13 year old team, and those we beat were even more surprised! We are happy that we made the choice to double up on our schedule this fall, hope that all the boys benefitted from the challenge and the experience, and that we've helped them with the competition that they will face in the spring at the high school and middle school levels.

Congratulations, KAOS!!!
