Great effort from the boys today, showing real commitment and energy in a tough game, with some stepping on to the pitch to play a full 11v11 for the first time in years, or the first time at all.
We lined up against a very strong Hatters team containing a number of first-teamers and semi-pros, despite this the boys took to the challenge well in tough conditions. The first half was closely contended, Hatters scoring their first goal with an excellent counter-attack from a Kickabout corner before Liam forced Hatters FC GK Dacey in to an impressive low save shortly after. Hatters doubled their advantage when Blessing of AFC Blackpool curled in expertly with a shot on the edge of the box. Unfortunately injuries took their toll for Kickabout in the first half, as striker Connor sustained a hamstring injury before GK Nat was unable to continue due to Kickabout traitor Ben kicking his ankle in to a different postcode 👀 as the game was friendly the referee brandished a yellow card only, telling us afterwards it would have been red in a normal game didn't do much to soothe the wound!
Kickabout had a lively start to the second half and managed to find the next twice throughout thanks to some tidy finishes by Liam, Hatters GK Dacey was again forced in to some excellent saves allowing them to maintain their lead, as the half progressed Kickabout fell to a mixture of unfortunate keeper mistakes paired with some clinical goals from quality players, the fitness and skill of those few higher level players really showed in the final 15/20 minutes of the game, proving to be ultimate difference as Hatters built an unassailable lead.
Regardless, all of the boys can hold their heads high and take confidence against a well drilled and armed opposition. The difference between a casual 7v7 and a full-bodied game is no small gap! MOM performances awarded to Liam and Chris, putting massive shifts on both sides of the pitch respectively.

Something a little different this weekend, alongside our usual session this evening we will be playing a full game against Hatters Unite FC on Sunday, as a like-minded group it promises to be a great game for all involved!
