week 5 of recovery 🩼
STAY TO THE END TO SEE MY MRI 🫣
got really great news this week from my ortho doc and I’m excited to throw these crutches off a bridge next week 😂 (jk maybe into the dumpster tho lol)
I’m so close to being able to just go for a walk and I’m so excited 😭
The Saltyy Redhead
army wife | cat mom | chronically uprooted 😅
fitness + chaos + probably too many lattes
still figuring out milspo life tbh 🫠
the MOST asked question I’ve had:
“did they say how it happened??” 🫠
no, and tbh I don’t think there is a true clear answer in this case. it’s not a point of impact type of injury, it’s not a stress fracture in my foot or lower leg from impact with the ground. femoral neck stress injuries/fractures are occurring on the largest single bone in your body, and so it’s complicated.
you could argue all the repetitive impact, but that’s not super likely. usually when it’s affecting a bone this large it comes down to nutrition and fueling. and I do feel that this was part of the problem. we also can look at calcium and vitamin d deficiencies. I had slightly low vitamin d levels, so also part of the problem.
I will say that my body protected itself for as long as it could lol, and I’m thankful that I listened to it when it gave me signs that something wasn’t right. I had a deep gut feeling I could be dealing with a stress fracture, and sure as s**t, I was in the verge of developing one 😮💨
part 4 🩼
*disclaimer: this is MY protocol put together by MY ortho doc and MY physical therapist. they are seeking to do what is best for ME. this is not medical advice and if you have your own injury, please seek a professional medical opinion 🙃 that is all.
🙌🏻 just two weeks left on these things!!!
part 3 in our femoral stress injury series 🥲
here’s a quick recap if ya don’t wanna listen to me yap for 2 minutes:
1. saw my primary care doc
2. got an x-ray, results came back clear
3. saw orthopedics & sports medicine
4. got an MRI, results showed the torn labrum and stress injury w/ a developing stress fracture
stick around to hear more about what my protocol is right now, and the big question everyone has been asking…how did this happen???
femoral stress injury: part 2
these were the symptoms that I personally experienced that led to my diagnosis. I'm by no means a medical professional lol. so if you have any injury concerns, please seek guidance from your physician 👍
follow along for who I saw, what tests I had ran, and how I got my diagnosis!
I have a femoral stress injury and it really f*cking sucks 😅
But, it's time to talk about it.
I'm going to dive into all my symptoms, the process of getting diagnosed, and what next steps are in another video - so stay tuned!
2 weeks out from race day ✨
the way the block was supposed to go:
4.5 miles conversational
4.5 miles race pace @12:25/mile
how it went:
4.5 miles conversational at 12:25/mile or less
4.5 miles of testing a sustainable race pace that was faster 😂
honestly very impressed with my zone 2 improvement AND my speed improvement. Wild what can happen when you run your easy runs truly easy, strength train, do speed work, and lock in on hydration, nutrition, and recovery 😉👏
2 weeks out from and ready to crush it 🙌🏻
