BOOM - Milestone achieved inside of the Hero Dad Guild.
We launched ads yesterday - 3 new members joined over night - and we are going to tune this up a notch and focus on growing something REALLY special, really cool and really impactful over the next year and onwards.
I build Hero Dad Guild because I want to create a space to help dads go from NCP to Hero IRL.
It's the only fitness community I know of that runs like an MMORPG.
Also.. I'm a giant nerd obviously.
So there we go.
Fun.
If you're a dad, you used to game and you want to get into the best shape of your life, this might just be the space for you.

I used to be obese.
120kg / 264 lbs.
I now weigh somewhere between 85-90kg, depending on the season (and how fluffy I am lol).
For years before I finally "cracked the code", I had everyone telling me what I should do.
Apparently that meant:
- No carbs after 6pm.
- Train 6x a week
- Highly restrictive diets
Completely unsustainable stuff that just CONFIRMED to me that I was "never going to be fit".
After all, I couldn't commit to what I thought were the "basic requirements" at the time.
THIS is the reason 98% of dads who try to lose weight gain it back within 12 months.
It's an impossible game to win.
You cannot realistically go from the identity of an obese person to the identity of a fitness fanatic and expect to stay the course.
The big secret?
Take it SLOW.
You will NOT be in the best shape you could possibly imagine in 12 weeks from now.
You MAY WELL be much better than now, but take a 12-24 month lense.
Instead of focusing on some arbitrary transformation, focus on what you want to achieve and let the transformation come to you.
"I want to be strong"
"I want to be lean"
"I want to be fit"
Those are nice but they aren't measureable.
Here are the 3 pillars of health & aesthetic truths we measure against inside of DadBod2.0:
1. A FFMI (Fat Free Mass Index) of 19-21
That's the sweet spot of "yes I'm strong, yes I train, no I don't need to take steroids to do this and yes I look amazing"
2. A Bodyfat % of 12-15%
That's the sweet spot for "yes I'm lean, yes I'm healthy, yes my muscles are defined" without needing to starve yourself, have 0 social life/family life and tank your hormones in the process.
3. A Resting Heart Rate of 50-65 bpm
The sweet spot of "I look after my cardio and my heart health, can easily do daily activieis, play with my kids" etc. Without needing be a cardio bunny who runs for 10 hours a week.
So here's a question for you:
Could you commit to tracking these health metrics and focusing on those instead of "a transformation"?

Shout-out first off to for putting the "foundation training series" on YouTube, recommendation below ⬇️
I couldn't even tie my shoelaces without sitting down on a chair.
Crippling backache all the time largely due to poor exercise selection in the gym and sitting ten hours a day at work.
I know dads out there are struggling with this.
So I thought I'd recommend a little 12 min video that I found on YouTube that is a game changer.
I integrate it 2-3x a week into my routine now.
See, the DadBod2.0 lifestyle isn't just about what we normally talk about:
- FFMI (fat free mass index) of 19-21
- Body fat % of 12-15%
- Heart health locked in with resting HR of 50-65bpm
All that stuff is good, but we also wanna be able to move pain free.
Those of you dads out there that are struggling with backache, here's my tip top recommendation.
I'm gonna leave the link to this video below (if you're reading this ok FB/LI and in bio if you're reading this on IG)
Check it out. You won't regret it.
Share this post if it's been useful for you. Let's help dads out there move pain free.
