1. MOTSEPE FOUNDATION
The Motsepe Foundation was founded in 1999 by Dr Patrice Motsepe and Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe. In 2013 the Motsepe family were the first on the African continent to join the Giving Pledge, started by Bill Gates, Melinda French Gates and Warren Buffet.

The Foundation was founded on the philosophy of ubuntu' the African concept of giving and caring for your neighbour and other members of your community. This seltless and compassionate quality is part of the age-old African culture and expresses the core value of humanity as goodness to our fellow beings.

The act of giving back has been and still is an integral part of our moral duty and collective responsibility. It is a concept that has held African families and communities together for generations, despite the continent's many challenges. We are proud to pass it on to the next generation.

2. MESSAGE FROM DR DANNY JORDAAN

How fitting that the 13th edition of the ABC Motsepe League National Play-offs are taking place in the very same week that Bafana Bafana arrived in North America to begin their FIFA World Cup 2026" campaign.

I single out Thabang Matuludi who was born in the rural settle- ment of Ngwaritis and who from 2019 played two seasons with The Dolphins FC in his home province of Limpopo. This amateur team has performed consistently well over more than a decade in the ABC Motsepe League and earned several provincial league titles.

In 2021 Thabang left The Dolphins FC and signed with Polokwane City FC in the National First Division (known today as The Motsepe Foundation Championship) who won promotion to the South African Premiership in the 2023/24 season and where to this day he still plays his trade with 'Rise and Shine',

Fellow defender Khuliso Mudau played for JDR Stars during the 2015/16 ABC Motsepe League season and with Magesi FC the next season after they had just been promoted to the NFD. He remained in the NFD for the 2017/18 season with Black Leopards FC before earning promotion with them to top flight football for another two seasons,

On the eve of the World Cup opening match in Mexico City, these two Bafana Bafana players offer no better illustration of what it means to rise through development structures and reach the ultimate global stage. I say to all of you present this week, Thabang and Khuliso have shown you what is possible and I urge you to hold this dream within you.

These Play-offs make a welcome return to Eastern Cape after nine years and I extend my gratitude to the Province and Mthatha for hosting us so hospitably. And deepest appreciation to The Motsepe Foundation for being the lifeblood of men's football development in our country

3. MESSAGE FROM MR KWENZAKWAKHE NGWENYA
Chairperson of the SAFA Competitions Committee

It is with a thanksgiving, joyful and a humbled heart to be in this time of staging ABC Motsepe National Play-Offs 2025/26 season. Our visionary SAFA President, Dr Danny Jordaan and his SAFA NEC Members have been supporting and working hard in bettering the ABC Motsepe League in their respective provinces, hence why we are having this very big and important promotional play offs.

We are so lucky to have had Motsepe Foundation who raised their hand to support the South African Football Association in its vision of having these provincial leagues that promote to Motsepe Foundation Championship which is administered by the Premier Soccer League. We will always be grateful for this support, as it has borne a lot of best fruits already.

The league has given our best two (2) teams in South Africa, every season to get promoted to The Motsepe Foundation Champions League, which is no longer an amateur league. A lot of players are scouted for PSL contracts from the league and the ABC Motsepe National play offs.

We congratulate Gomora United FC from Gauteng, The Bees FC from Mpumalanga & Midlands Wanderers FC from KZN for their promotion from ABC Motsepe National Play offs. The three (3) promoted teams have been able to keep their spots in the Motsepe Foundation Champions League, which proves that ABC Motsepe League is a very strong league to participate in.

The livelihood and success is fully coming from the ABC Motsepe Foundation and that is because of the quality of the games they play, the league is so competitive which means that they have to fight for their crown, it doesn't come easy.

Our broadcaster, SABC has given the league the respect and mileage it deserves as they are broadcast national play-offs games from the first to the last game. It is a reality that in all provinces every week updates are being sent to media to make & create awareness of what is happening per province.

We would like to congratulate all nine (9) ABC Motsepe Provincial winners for getting this opportunity for a promotion. We wish them all the best ABC Motsepe National Play-Offs has been growing in a very high speed and for 2025/26 we are expecting only the best as the league is now being supported and followed from all corners of South Africa, which has even touched the lives of our players at the deep rural areas.

We are not happy when teams are relegated but for obvious reasons, two teams will be relegated at the end of the season
We wish to also thank the government of the Eastern Cape for giving the necessary support towards this year's play-offs, in order for our event to be a success. The winner is taking home a decent prize money and a big trophy, but both finalists will be promoted to Motsepe Foundation Championship League for the season 2026/27.

In closure, let us take this opportunity to wish our nine (9) provinces, players, technical teams, managers, our match officials, ABC Motsepe, SABC and SAFA staff who are directly connected to the program for a fruitful and prosperous tournament.

4. MESSAGE FROM MR MOLEFI NTSEKI
Technical Director of the South African Football Association

A Technical Study Group (TSG) will be introduced for the first time ever in the ABC Motsepe National Play-offs that are being played from 1- 7 June 2026 at the uMthatha Stadium in Eastern Cape. The TSG is being led by Zunaid Mall, the newly-appointed Head of the SAFA Coaching Department, and will be for the benefit of teams and football in general.

Nine provincial teams are taking part, and the top two sides will gain promotion to the professional ranks, joining the Motsepe Foundation Championship, also known as the National First Division, which is the second tier in South African football.,

The technical study group will be reporting back to the clubs about, among others, the formations, the qualifications of the coaches, modern trends in football and the type of goals scored.

So the TSG will be putting together a technical report that will be sent to all the teams that are going to participate in this tournament so that we can also help in the development of football in our country. This is the only tournament that is under SAFA where the teams leaving this league head to the professional ranks of the Motsepe Foundation League. We pride ourselves with all the technical work that we put into all the teams.

The other innovation in this tournament is that referees will be coming in to conduct a work- shop with the coaches and the players in terms of the new rules of the game. Everybody will be capacitated coming into this tournament so that we don't have too many issues when it comes to people understanding the laws of the game because recently some new rules have been passed and implemented
