πŸ† Western Province Bring Home Gold and Silver at IPT! πŸ’™πŸ

What an incredible IPT campaign for Western Province, with both teams reaching their respective finals and returning home with Gold in the Mixed division and Silver in the Over 30s division. Throughout the tournament, both squads displayed outstanding teamwork, determination and skill, making the province incredibly proud.

πŸ₯‡ WP Mixed – Gold Medal Champions

The WP Mixed team produced a tournament to remember, claiming Gold after an emphatic victory in the final. Even more impressively, they did not concede a single skin throughout the entire tournamentβ€”a remarkable achievement that reflects their consistency and dominance from start to finish.

In the final, Ashlyn Kilowan was deservedly named Player of the Match, contributing 19 runs and claiming 4 wickets. She was superbly supported by Anwill Andrews, Jethro Hill and Catherine de Villiers, who each added 19 runs, while Lisinda Williams (12), Garynne Fortuin (11), Waylain September (9) and Riana Conradie (5) all played valuable roles with the bat.

The bowling attack was equally impressive, with Ashlyn Kilowan, Anwill Andrews and Riana Conradie each taking 4 wickets, while Catherine de Villiers and Jethro Hill also claimed wickets. It was another complete team performance to finish an unforgettable tournament.

πŸ₯ˆ WP Over 30s – Silver Medalists

The WP Over 30s capped off an outstanding week by finishing as Silver Medalists, earning their place in the Gold Final through resilience, teamwork and consistently strong performances.

In the final, Wouter-John Whitmore led the batting with a composed 28 runs, while Chad Storah added 19 runs to keep the scoreboard moving.

With the ball, Kyle Udeman produced an excellent spell, finishing with 3 wickets while conceding just 9 runs. Adenaan Hendricks claimed 2 wickets, and Zayaan Lillah also contributed with 1 wicket. Despite the final result, the team continued to fight until the very last ball, showing the character that had carried them all the way to the championship match.

Congratulations to both Western Province teams on an exceptional IPT campaign. Bringing home Gold in the Mixed division and Silver in the Over 30s division is a fantastic achievement. Every player contributed throughout the week, and the success of both teams is a true reflection of the talent, commitment and pride that defines Western Province Action Cricket. Congratulations to all the players and management on a memorable tournament! 🏏

The opening rounds have highlighted one of Western Province’s greatest strengths: a genuine team effort. Both the WP Mix and WP Over 30 teams have shared the workload brilliantly, with runs coming from throughout the batting order and wickets being taken across the bowling attack. Rather than relying on one or two standout players, every member of the squad has contributed when it has mattered most.

There have, however, been some exceptional individual performances. For the WP Over 30s, Wouter-John Whitmore has led from the front with the bat, producing two outstanding innings, while Jaco Langenhoven and Adenaan Hendricks have delivered match-winning spells with the ball. Strong support from Chad Storah, Izak Strydom, Bryce Roman, and Zayaan Lillah has ensured the side has remained competitive in every department.

The WP Mix have been equally impressive. Anwill Andrews has starred as a true all-rounder, making decisive contributions with both bat and ball, while Ashlyn Kilowan produced a superb Player of the Match performance. Important innings from Waylain September, Catherine de Villiers, and Garynne Fortuin, together with disciplined bowling from Crescendo Jampies, Lisinda Williams, Jethro Hill, Shafieka Ovis, and others, have underlined the depth and quality within the squad.

These collective performances are reflected in the tournament standings. The WP Mix have been nothing short of dominant, sitting top of the table with a perfect six wins from six matches, collecting 44 points, 24 skins, and boasting an incredible +657 run differential. The WP Over 30s have also put themselves in a strong position, currently third on the log with four wins from six matches and 28 points, remaining firmly in contention as the tournament enters its decisive stages.

While several players have produced outstanding individual performances, the biggest story has been the collective commitment shown by both teams. It is this balance, depth, and willingness to contribute across the board that has made Western Province one of the standouts at this year’s IPT.
