An initiative that pairs up talented designers with kids to mentor them in design and expose their beautiful minds to exceptional skills and opportunities.

There is a stigma attached to what it means to make it as a young professional. Kids feel they have to have maths, science and incredible marks to make it. In a nutshell, they have the wrong idea. Cape Town has far more to offer. With the growing skate culture paired with the incredible design talent that can be found up the road… Sk8 for Gr8 was founded. An initiative that will pair up mad-talent

It has been some time since posting here.

We are wanting to address a recent film released that was initially inspired by Sk8 for Gr8 - a film to hopefully promote our vision to inspire creativity within South Africa and give local artists a voice.

The film was released without our final approval and we have very strong objections to the portrayal of Cape Town's community - we believe it is a misrepresentation.

We want you to know that we take our community seriously and we don't take this lightly. We are currently doing all we can to ensure these issues are addressed immediately.

He is one talented kid ranging from typography and creativity to side stepping opponents on the soccer field.

Children's Book Publishers | Imagnary House 06/12/2018

We love how creativity can be expressed in so many different forms. And today we want to give a shout out to our friends at Imagnary House.

They are doing a stellar job at using creativity to create wonderfully whimsical, adventurous and down right fun kids books.

We even had the privilege of working with one of their authors and illustrators, Jess Bosworth, as a mentor in our latest Sk8 for Gr8 workshops.

End of Year Workshop 23/11/2018

Sk8 for Gr8 hosted a creative workshop where we welcomed kids from EduSkeight to explore creativity with talks from Marco Morgan and Senyol as well as skate lessons and an ice breaker from EduSkeight.

Five kids were paired with five designers; Al Luke, Ruschka Du Toit Gird, Jess Bosworth, Aweh Migo and Kaylin Car. The designers worked with the kids to help guide and advise them in creating their own skateboard graphic. We also had Ryk Otto filming and mentoring in the process and we worked closely with BlackRhino VR to create a Virtual Reality piece (watch this space for more).

This workshop would not have been possible without the support of Red Bull Amaphiko, EduSkeight, BlackRhino VR, Oculus, Facebook and Woodstock Community Church.

Last weekend some kids from EduSkeight heard from Marco Morgan and Aweh Migo at our workshops. They got to hear about the history of skateboarding and then get practical with Aweh Migo and learn some mural techniques.

Sk8 for Gr8 and Eduskeight are working together to merge skating and creating.

We pair up kids with creative professionals in workshops to expose them to creative career opportunities and creative ways of thinking.
