In the grand theatre of rowing, while the rowers look like the action heroes—muscles flexing, oars slicing, sweat flying—the true mastermind sits facing the wrong way and somehow runs the entire show. Yes, the coxswain.
The coxswain is part tactician, part motivational speaker, part meteorologist, and part benevolent dictator. They weigh less than your average gym bag but carry the psychological mass of a small planet. With nothing but a mic (and sometimes only their voice above the wind) and supreme confidence, they command four or eight towering athletes who could bench-press them without breaking rhythm.
Need strategy? The coxswain has splits memorized like sacred scripture - which sometimes even makes it on board. Need steering? They thread that toothpick shell of a hull through chaos with the calm of a Formula 1 driver. Need motivation? They can transform “I’m tired” into “I would row through a hurricane for you.” There is a valid reason our coxes get carried!
In short, the coxswain is the only person in sport who can yell “POWER TEN!” and be universally adored for it. Rowers may move the boat—but the coxswain moves the rowers.
Let's hear it for the amazing COXES of Bosch rowing!

While we gear up for SA Champs - who wants more photos from Buffalo & Selborne Sprints??

Still basking in the glow of Buffalo, enjoy some epic Bosch Rowing coaches snaps, because where would our boys be without these gents? And of course our MIC!
Each one of them goes above and beyond for our squad. The math they were subjected to, to get everyone in their boats and to get the timing right between events with or without lightning. The gymnastics they had to pull off to get some boys into unexpected boats with negative turn around times. Ensuring each of the boys had optimal water time and events and giving them chances to challenge themselves too! The nurturing of the sick and wounded boys to the cheering from the sidelines for them. The leaning far too close for comfort over those waters to be sure every single boat had its number secured properly and every boy was where they needed to be.
Our coaches really go above and beyond, providing training and mentorship for boys. Thank you !

What a privilege it always is to watch our seniors in action, and Nick Waights regatta was no exception. They appear to glide with ease across the water, timing their strokes with precision and efficiency. Enjoy some action shots, and some quiet moments too.
