The Hwange Schools Project, Zimbabwe is rising to the challenge of improving literacy in the Community Unemployment is huge and infrastructure development poor.
The story of the Hwange Schools Project, Zimbabwe
One of the biggest challenges facing conservationists in Africa is reconciling poverty stricken villagers living on the edges of protected areas with the concept of conserving wildlife. The biggest threat to Africa’s protected areas is encroachment by burgeoning disenfranchised neighbouring communities. Tsholotsho Communal land borders Hwange Natio

We are excited to tell you about a new initiative for 2 of our Secondary Schools- Sipepa and Kapane Secondary. Through the generosity of David Mouat , his company, Justine Clothing in Bulawayo is offering an internship for 12 scholars in December 2021. Both these schools are located in the deep rural district of Tsolotsho, Matabeleland. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for these students to learn some valuable skills in the formal work environment. The Hwange Schools Project and Imvelo Safari Lodges are now working on the logistics to get the show on the road. We are asking for support to assist us in covering their transport, meal and accommodation costs. Please help us give these students the wonderful opportunity of learning valuable skills through this internship. The cost comes to $75 per student. Please contact [email protected] if you can help. All donations are welcome :)
A Huge Thank You to everyone who made our April 2021 trip to the Hwange Schools such a success. Share in our joy of distribution desperately needed supplies to these children. We are gearing up for 2022 now - donations of clothing, books, toys and stationery are always welcome. It's impossible to learn if you don't have a pen or a pencil. The schools that we support in Zimbabwe open soon and we're launching a stationery drive! Donations of pens, pencils, erasers, sharpeners and pencil bags can be collected in Cape Town, or consider a small monetary donation to help us stock our schools. Follow this link to donate:https://www.hwange-schools.com/how-you-can-help.html or use the QR code for Snapscan, Zapper or Masterpass. Any donation will be hugely appreciated by the children.

Hi Friends,
I can not believe we are nearing the end of this crazy year. If you are emptying your cupboards to make space for the upcoming Festive Season, please consider donating it to our project. We are always happy to receive gently used clothing for children and adults as well as toys and stationery that we can distribute among the schools.

Do you have any spare dress or curtain fabric in your cupboards? You know, the bits you bought just in case…..
If so, we are looking for fabric donations to send up to two high schools in Zimbabwe. The students who take Fashion and Design are expected to buy their own fabric, but given the current economic conditions where even the cheapest fabric costs $10 per metre, it’s just not possible. Students who take this subject have a great chance of starting their own business when they leave school – and we’d love to help them do this. The schools can also generate a bit of income by doing sewing projects for the villagers. We’re aiming to collect at least 200 metres so we’ll take whatever you have! We’re very happy to collect from you if you are in Cape Town or surrounds. Sewing supplies such as thread, needles, tape measures, sewing machines, would also be very gratefully received.
Please contact us via FB message or email us at [email protected]

Thank you Cape Talk and Mambo's Plastics - we spent our R1500 voucher at the Retreat store on the weekend. With the help of the generous Tracey, Patiswa and the team we managed to fill 2 trolleys with a wide range of toys and educational resources for the renovation of the 2 ECD classrooms that we will do in Jan 2020. A small act of kindness from Mambo’s has enriched the lives of many ECD children who will benefit from the wonderful educational toys.
