Zimbabwe is amazingly beautiful, with an abundance of wildlife, the famous Victoria Falls, Cariba, Mana Pools and the Zimbabwe Ruins. Oh, then there's the spectacular mountain scenery of Lesotho, the Mountain Kingdom. A magnificent opportunity to explore nature still little changed by man, still unspoiled by crowds of tourists, and to appreciate the untamed but beautiful landscapes of the soaring Maluti and Drakensberg mountains. BUSH MECHANICS COURSE

Cederberg 4x4 will once again be facilitating a Bush Mechanics Course in Durbanville this coming November. The course is not to make you a qualified mechanic, but is aimed at empowering you with knowledge to help you trouble shoot problems when stranded somewhere in the great outdoors.
Lots of practical information will also be shared by the two instructors helping you in planning your preventative vehicle maintenance and what to carry in your vehicle in case of a mechanical failure. S

The Kalahari tour is still going strong

After Riemvasmaak they headed for the last destination, namely Khamkirri - Place of the Leopard. At the beautiful Khamkirri Lodge all camps are situated along the Orange River ensuring up close river views. Here the group enjoyed a sunset cruise and then so much fun was had by all rafting on the Orange River.

ON TO THE NEXT DESTINATION

After loads of fun on the Pans the group headed for Riemvasmaak, a rugged, remote mountain desert wilderness, 75 000 hectares of desert canyon terrain between the Orange River and the dry Molopo River. Two thermal pools sit in a deep ravine enclosed by towering 80-meter granite cliffs.

After having fun in the Red Dunes of the Kalahari the group headed for the Kalahari Pans, The Koo Pan and the Haksteen Pan.

The Haksteen Pan:
On 16 November 2019, Bloodhound LSR reached 628 mph (1,010 km/h) during its high-speed testing at Hakskeen Pan, driven by Andy Green. The run reached 600 mph in roughly 50 seconds.
It was the high-speed testing phase for Bloodhound's planned record attempt. The existing outright world land-speed record remained 763.035 mph (1,227.985 km/h).
Bloodhound's 628 mph was nevertheless an astonishing test speed — and the team described Hakskeen Pan as the world's best straight-line race track.
The Hakskeen Pan track wasn't simply sitting there waiting for Bloodhound. The local Mier community cleared about 16,500 tonnes of rock from 22 million square metres of dry lakebed to make the track suitable for the car.
Each evening after their adventure the group returned to the Kalahari Molopo Lodge camp, a truly luxury campsite with a swimming pool and each camp has it's own ablutions and lapa. The lodge provided a long table for the 12 adventurers as well as freshly baked breads, butter and jams.
Experiences were shared around the communal camp fire and in the morning they enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the lodge.

The group is currently at Rienvasmaak where there is no cell phone reception so hopefully photos will follow soon.

The Kalahari Deluxe trip will start at the well-known 4-Star Molopo Lodge with three nights Camping/Glamping/Chalet accommodation at this amazing lodge, enjoying activities in the area and ending with a two night camp at the 4-Star Khamkiri Lodge & Camp, also offering a wide range of activities. Two of the remaining three nights will be spent at the well-known Riemvasmaak Hot Springs, a must visit destination when in the Kalahari.

Riemvasmaak is filled with history and if possible, Norbit an inborn of Riemvasmaak and of Voetspore fame, will join us around our campfire to share history of Riemvasmaak and Voetspore stories. A single night will also be spent at Goerapan, a well-known destination for 4x4 enthusiasts once a year with the annual Goerapan Challenge, only 100km north of Upington. Here you will experience an amazing Kalahari 4x4 sunset drive enjoying a sundowner while the red sun sets over the Kalahari.

No visit to the Kalahari will be complete without a visit to the well-known Riemvasmaak hot springs and the 4 Star Khamkiri Lodge where we will spend two nights before heading home.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF FLOWER EXTRAVAGANZA 🌸⛰️

This past long weekend, 8–10 August, our guests headed into the spectacular Biedouw Valley for our annual Flower Extravaganza.

The Cederberg had other plans this year! With the unusual weather we've been experiencing, the wildflowers had already reached their peak and were sadly not as abundant as we would normally expect at this time of year. But that certainly didn't stop the adventure.

The magnificent Biedouw Valley, rugged 4x4 trails, mountains, river crossings, waterfalls and spectacular views still provided an unforgettable weekend in one of the most beautiful corners of the Cederberg.

Perhaps the flowers weren't quite putting on their usual show this time, but the Cederberg never disappoints. ❤️
