Mbusi Somgav Ndlela, having played music at the Garden Arts Festival at Tropical Nursery during eThekwini Enviro Week, came with a fellow musician to test out the acoustics of our outdoor classroom, gracing the space with sweet melodies and gifted with cuttings for their home gardens!

Leading the way to transforming our agricultural systems

Wild Lettuce is at its best right now. Just like ordinary lettuce, it prefers the cooler weather. I pick the small inner leaves for salads. The older leaves are a bit more bitter, but if you are a radicchio, rocket or sorrel fan, you will probably enjoy them.
Don't miss this abundant treat growing in a cool damp place right now.

Wild lettuce is well known for its relaxing, sedative effect. Particularly useful to treat anxiety and insomnia. It’s apparently good for hyperactive children. Just a few teaspoons of chopped leaves in hot water a couple of times a day should do the calming trick.

Lactuca festuca, Lekolobote, Leswhabe
