We proudly hosted our 2nd Gymstar & Level 1-3 Competition this past weekend. Special thanks to our visiting Clubs for coming to take part. Some fantastic performances across the board. This particular event was very special to us. Some of you may remember Ellie-Rae as one of our talented up-and-coming gymnasts. Many of you may also remember her mom, Bianca, who played such a big role in helping spearhead our gym renovations last year.

Sadly, Ellie-Rae’s life changed this year when she was diagnosed with PANS & PANDAS.

As part of our Durban North Gymnastics family, we would love to support Ellie-Rae on her medical journey. ❤️

We are proud to share the proceeds from this week’s GYM STAR / Levels Competition and it has been donated directly towards Ellie-Rae’s fundraising efforts to assist with her treatment and ongoing care. We will be posting more on Ellie’s journey and how you can help her. Thank you for supporting this. Together we can make a difference. 💛

If your child skips gymnastics… they miss the foundation of movement for life. 👀
As an athlete, I truly believe this. Gymnastics is not just another sport. It’s the foundation of all physical development. It teaches kids how to move, how to control their body, how to fall safely, and how to build strength, mobility, and coordination from a young age. 🤸‍♂️

This is not about becoming a gymnast.
This is about building a body that works well for LIFE.

Regular PE is not enough anymore. Most classes are too general, too short, and don’t actually teach kids how to move properly. Kids run, play games, and stay active—but they don’t build real strength, coordination, balance, or body control. Without a strong physical foundation, they struggle later, get injured more often, and lose confidence in sports. That’s why something like gymnastics, which builds these fundamentals from the ground up, is so important.

Kids who develop these basics early are more confident, more active, and less likely to get injured in other sports. They move better, feel stronger, and carry that into everything they do: on the field, in school, and beyond. 💪

Most sports focus on results.
Gymnastics builds the base first.

And that base changes everything.

If more parents understood this… more kids would stay active, feel confident, and actually enjoy movement instead of struggling with it. 🏆

Do you think gymnastics should be part of every school? 👇
