Today we celebrated Valentine's Day. The Juniors got smarties as their special treat and the seniors enjoyed some frappe's.

We wore some red in our hair and brought our favorite toys/snacks to class!

I came into teaching ballet class, carrying a story. Every year that story helped me overcome, work through and grow through the chaos. And then I would take that story and turn it into a show, as an opportunity to minister to everyone

Ballet shaped how I show up in every part of my life. Ballet has complex sequences that you don’t always get right the first time — sometimes not the second or third either — but you keep showing up until your body understands.

Through ballet, I learned patience, discipline, and the refusal to give up when something feels hard. At school, this became focus, structure, and a strong work ethic. At university, it showed up as careful planning, persistence under pressure, and the ability to push through demanding seasons. In my work life, those same lessons made me a doer — someone who over-plans, works hard, executes with intention, and finishes what I start.

Ballet taught me that progress comes from repetition, resilience, and consistency. I am a hard worker, an over-planner, an over-achiever — and I never give up.

All these characteristics are values I learnt from ballet, which has become second nature without even realizing.

Let's Dance Ballet Academy Online Registration- New Dancers 2026 Let's Dance Ballet Academy offers ballet classes from the age of 3. All dancers with or without previous experience are welcome. Classes in 2026 are R130 per month. All new dancers need to pay a registration deposit of R200 before commencing class. Classes will commence on 7 February 2026.

Not all ballet moments happen on stage. Some happen in quiet corrections, encouragement, and laughter.

Let’s Dance Ballet Academy is a nurturing ballet school based in East London, welcoming dancers from age 3 and up.
Our Saturday classes have been running for 11 years, rooted in the heart of the community, for the community.
We believe ballet is more than technique — it builds confidence, discipline, joy, and self-belief, in a safe and encouraging space where every child is seen and supported.

✨ What a Year It’s Been at Let’s Dance Ballet Academy ✨

As we close off this year, my heart is full reflecting on everything we shared, built, and celebrated together at Let’s Dance Ballet Academy.

We began our year in February, at a time when there was real uncertainty. At the start of the year, we weren’t sure whether we would even be able to continue with Let’s Dance Ballet Academy due to challenges around venue availability. But it was part of God's plan to continue opening the doors of Tomorrowland to us, allowing us to use their venue and with that opportunity came a commitment from our side to give back, serve, and invest into the community that invested in me for 11 years. What started with uncertainty turned into a year marked by purpose, partnership, and generosity.

🌸 Our very first Market Day followed soon after, fundraising for Tomorrowland. The support from our families and dancers was incredible, and the profit we made was shared back with Tomorrowland, a beautiful example of what happens when community works together.

💐 Our Mother’s Day production, Honouring Mothers, was a deeply special moment. We invited our moms to a show created just for them, a celebration of love, sacrifice, and strength. Once again, we fundraised and shared the proceeds with Tomorrowland, teaching our girls the importance of gratitude and giving back.

👔 Father’s Day brought so much laughter and joy as our dads didn’t just attend, they participated in classes with their girls. Watching them dance together, try new steps, and be such great sports was truly heart-warming and a highlight for everyone involved.

🩰 Our dancers then stepped confidently into exams, and they made us incredibly proud with their results. This was followed by our exam certificate ceremony, where hard work, discipline, and perseverance were celebrated.

🎶 After exams, the studio became a space of pure joy, filled with fun classes, creativity, and connection.

👑 We celebrated Women’s Day by dressing up as princesses, reminding our girls of their worth, identity, and strength.

🇿🇦 Our Heritage Day celebration allowed us to explore who we are as South Africans in ballet, honouring our cultural heritage, understanding the history of ballet, and discovering how we fit into it as proudly South African dancers.

🎄 We ended the year with a Christmas party for our little ones, closing the season with magic, laughter, and special memories.

🌟 And then came the undeniable highlight of the year 🌟
The Rise & Twirl Dance Camp 2025.

This camp was powerful, inspirational, and deeply moving. We witnessed growth far beyond technique, confidence was built, hearts were touched, friendships were strengthened, and stories were changed. The impact this camp had on the girls reminded us why we do what we do.

This is Let’s Dance Ballet Academy.
We don’t just teach ballet.
We go above and beyond.
We build confidence, character, discipline, compassion, and community.
We create safe spaces where dancers are seen, valued, and encouraged to rise.

To our parents, dancers, supporters, patrons, and community partners, thank you. Thank you for trusting us, supporting us, and being part of this academy. You are the heartbeat of everything we do.
