GLUTE BURNER
This kneeling hip thrust with a resistance band is a killer exercise for building strong glutes and legs!
Start in a tall kneeling position with the resistance band looped around your feet and across your hips.
From there, sit your hips slightly back, then drive your hips forward into a powerful thrust while squeezing your glutes hard at the top.
The band creates constant resistance, making every rep more challenging and effective.
Muscles worked:
Glutes — the main muscle powering the hip thrust
Quads — working hard to stabilize and control the movement
Hamstrings — assisting with hip extension
Core — helping keep the body stable and upright
Hip stabilizers — improving balance and control
Why is this exercise so good? Builds stronger, firmer glutes Improves hip strength and power

Today we celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. ❤️
And for all the married couples out there… you know marriage and parenting is not always easy. It comes with challenges, sacrifices, hard seasons, growth, and moments that truly test you.
When I look back over the last 20 years, and 18 years of being a mom, I can honestly say life has not always been easy.
But nowhere does life promise us that it will be easy.
Life is hard sometimes. We cannot always control our circumstances, but we CAN control how we respond to them. We cannot always eliminate stress, but we CAN learn how to manage it.
For me, exercise has been my coping mechanism for many many years and for the last 25 years, specifically boxing. 🥊
Boxing has been my stress relief, my anger management, my therapy, and my strength builder all in one. It has helped me process emotions, release tension, build resilience, and keep showing up even during the hardest seasons.
So if you are feeling overwhelmed, stressed, emotionally exhausted, or struggling to cope with the demands of life… perhaps it’s time to come try a boxing class at Fighting Fit.

CORE BURNER ALERT
One of my favourite exercises for strengthening the core is the tummy crunch with leg extensions using a resistance band looped around the feet.
Hold the band in both hands, stay lifted in a crunch position, and slowly extend the legs out while keeping tension on the band.
This exercise works:
Re**us abdominis (your “six-pack” muscles)
Deep core muscles
Hip flexors
Quadriceps
Shoulders and arms from holding the band under tension
Why is it so good for you?
Builds core strength and stability
Improves posture and balance Helps protect the lower back Challenges coordination and control
Increases muscular endurance Engages the entire core instead of just crunching up and down
The key is to stay controlled, keep the core tight, and don’t let the lower back arch off the floor.
Slow and controlled always wins over rushing reps!

Deadlifts are one of the BEST full-body strength exercises you can do. Lifting heavier weights with good technique helps build strength, power, muscle tone, and confidence both inside and outside the gym.
How to perform a deadlift:
Stand with feet hip-width apart Hold the weights close to your legs
Keep your chest lifted and core tight
Hinge at the hips while keeping a flat back
Lower the weights with control Drive through your heels and squeeze your glutes to stand tall
Deadlifts are amazing because they train your body to move properly while strengthening your entire posterior chain.
