A big shout-out to Arnaldo Bende better known to the Kowie Granny Grommets as Naldo, our much- loved KGG lifeguard.
From December to April, Naldo works as a lifeguard for Ndlambe Municipality. During the long off-season, he runs his own business called Yazindalo Eco Adventure, and volunteers every Friday to do lifeguard duty for the KGGs. He has been doing this since May 2025 and hardly ever misses a Friday!
Over time Naldo has become more than a lifeguard. He's our friend, photographer, First Aid helper and all - round beach guardian.
This morning, we arrived at Kellyβs Beach full of anticipation for our weekly boogieboarding session. Naldo did a complete recce of the beach break to find a safe spot for us "to do our thing". However, the powerful incoming tide and fresh south-westerly wind had created dangerous rip currents across the bay and our loyal lifegaurd wasn't taking any chances. No boogiebarding today!!
So, we went to Plan B. Some of us chose to have a gentle swim at Sharks Bay, while others chatted on the beach, followed by coffee at Stendens with lots of laughs and chitter-chatter.
Sea, soul and Sisterhood wins the day.
Thank you Naldo for always looking after us. You are the best

Thank you, MC Churro, for hosting the KGGs for a post-boogie coffee date at your fabulous dessert bar in Postmaster's Village, Port Alfred.
The hot drinks and delicious churros drizzled with chocolate, were just what we needed after boogieboarding in an "angry, dirty, sandy" ocean!
Well done ladies for supporting local bussinesses. Local is lekker!
