GARO SPORT BRAND

The name Garo is derived from a township slang for commuter train and also is affectionately given to someone due to their strength and speed. The use of such slang was most pupular in the 70s, 80s, 90s and early 2000. Such names were given as admiration and type of endearments to our best talent in the field of play. It was important for me to use these local invented names that can also inspire the one who will be wearing the brand. Many other popular names were , 16V, Fire, Insimbi, Shoes, Ace, Midnight express, Chukwu train, Legs of thunder and 10111.

Let's embrace our identity, umblaselo was an inspiration for this style. love to work with things that other designers are not using, lots of things around us that can be used to build brands with.

We chose these few elements and make sneaker.

What makes brand or Label to be a South African brand? Surely it needs to have an Identity of sort.

At Garo we chose to look for inspiration locally, we took ideas from our traditional attires and beading patterns. We have developed our own ideas infused with these African features.

We are not re branding someone's work, we create everything from sketch.

Pencil and Paper is vital in our brand, we value these simple items they are life source to us in developing a true South African Sneaker brand.

Our goal is design a pair of sneaker that will have identity for each tribe of the people of South Africa.
