South Africa’s FIRST Deaf Karate team is going to JAPAN!

📍 Karate Dream Cup Festival 2026
📅 18-19 July 2026
📍 Yoyogi 1st Gymnasium, Tokyo

*WHO ARE WE?*
🥋 24 athletes, ages 7-16
👧 16 girls, 👦 8 boys
🏫 Ekurhuleni School for the Deaf - Mas se Dojo

*WHY THIS MATTERS*
✅ First deaf SA kids to compete vs hearing athletes internationally
✅ 51 trophies won since 2024, against hearing athletes
✅ 10 trophies (out of 17 participants) at KZN Provincials March 2026
✅Will be attending the Shihan Mashinini Cup Shinkyokushin inter-national tournament in Swaziland at end of May
✅ Advancing SA Sign Language as 12th official language
✅ Role models for 500k+ deaf South Africans

Our last session before the festive, we had a privilege to have a visitor, who brought early XMas gifts for us, donating punching bag & head guards 💙❤️🥋. A little demonstration showcasing that karate can Be done in sign language

And we’re grwoing bigger in numbers

A gentleman who witnessed first hand deaf kids in karate partaking from forst bouts right through obtaining positions at the Sensei Kiwi Cup in Garankuwa (Nov 3). Days later, he came for a visit.

We're not only about karate / self-defence, we are also about Family, Etiquette, Discipline, Unity, Honour and a whole lot of fun. 🥳😉😋🤩🤣

🥋Training karate to all individuals as young as 4yrs old, shapes & sizes, to learn all virtues of karate. We also assist in schoolwork & post school. Disability isn't an issue to us, we understand & learn - what's an awareness without learning about it😌😁... through an individual that's already there🤩

As we closed off the year with a SAYONARA for ourselves. 👊🏾 Dedicating the year of all sorts of emotions, we went all FUN & GAMES with some braai Pines Resort,Krugersdorpp.
23rd November will never be the same ✨ for my Kiddoz. With presents & goodie packs … it was a day of all emotions indeed.
🫶🏽Thanking everyone that got involved & helping out at the 2025 SAYONARA… 🙏🏾 and throughout the year. It has been great pleasures.
