South Africa's best young riders are saddling up and heading to Shongweni Club for the biggest youth equestrian event of the year. Toyota SA Youth Champs 2026 kicks off on 27 June, and Shongweni Club is getting ready!

Whether you're competing, coaching, cheering from the stands or watching from home, this one is going to be something special. Five disciplines. Hundreds of riders. One legendary venue. Let's go. 🏇

We have learned of the passing of the legendary course designer, Bob Ellis, who has died at the age of 79 following a short illness.

Bob designed from Brazil to New Zealand, with Mexico and South Africa favourites abroad, and Hickstead, Windsor, Olympia and the South of England among his favourites at home.

He was one of a select group within the sport to hold the FEI’s O status, enabling him to design courses at some of the world’s major competitions. The crowning achievement of his career came at the London Olympics, where he created a series of iconic courses featuring unforgettable fence designs that showcased the very best of Great Britain to a global audience.

Bob will be remembered not only for his outstanding contribution to equestrian sport, but also for his ready smile and infectious sense of humour.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with his family and friends.

Arena Assistants play an important role in getting a showjumping course set up, assisting the Course Builder to make smooth transitions between classes, and to generally maintain the going in the arena.
