Special School Learners come from various communities, but the majority come from Xhosa-speaking families.
The Noluthando School for the Deaf is a special school situated in Khayelitsha serving 342 learners between the ages of 3 and 18 years, who have hearing impairments. Noluthando School for the Deaf prescribes the principles of equal opportunity for all and sets a high premium on Deaf people learning to help themselves to the best of their ability. Noluthando School also has an Autism Unit as well as a Skills training Section.
