Let's not forget! How privileged are we?!
Deep appreciation for all the women who paved the way for something we now assume is the norm.
Today is the 127th but did you know women weren't always allowed to run? In 1967, Kathrine Switzer made history as the first woman to officially run the Boston Marathon. Kathrine used her initials to register for the marathon instead of using her full name.
During the race, an official tried to physically remove her (as seen in the photo) but she persevered and finished the race!
Kathrine was also involved with the fight to get the womenβs marathon included in the Olympics, which ultimately happened in 1984.
Kathrine was and continues to be a true pioneer for women's sports.πͺ

True story!
Our old habit is to go for a coffee after our walk. This morning, while paying the bill, our waitress said she didn't give us any sweeties because she saw we were working out and we clearly didn't need the extra sugar.
We had to explain the concept to her; we exercise precisely because we love the sweetie things so much!
Whatever gets you motivated to move, right?

One of my students, a professional cyclist in France, says that on days when he feels extremely unmotivated to exercise, he rewards himself by cycling to a destination where he knows he can have a good cup of coffee. That sounds like the type of motivation that could work for me!
How about you, how can you reward yourself while doing something productive today?

We walked and talked and captured moments the entire 7kms of the trail in . An energizing day in nature.
We carried double the amount of gear and food we needed for half the distance we planned to go and took twice the time to do it β pure blisss!

We went hiking in , and at first you just take in the bigger picture; the grasslands, the plantations, the mountain range and the clear blue sky. Later you also notice the tiny flowers at your feet. They bloom in all kinds of vibrant colours where you least expect it. They remind you how vulnerable life can be. Every tiny flower has value in nature's cycle.
Often times we feel as if we are the simple, humble little flower; often overlooked. God takes care of us too!
And right there where the bigger picture of our life has gone wild, small moments of loving kindness keeps the cycle of fragile hope alive.
Be gentle with yourself, and others. Rest in the knowledge that God has the whole world in his hand.

Do those challenging things.
A journey of a thousand miles must begin with getting up, showing up and taking a single step. The reward is waiting, go get it!
